Totally Trees for the Paper Players

Leanne at the Paper Players has put together a very fall inspired colour choice this week – I think she’s hoping it will fix the hot weather! It’s done so in New Jersey, so thanks for that Leanne.  It inspired me to pull out my Totally Trees set – not that it was put away. I can’t see it being put completely away for a very long time.

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees and Watercolor Wishes

And here’s the banner which inspired my card

I made this card right after my Merry Medley one and so wanted to make a very CAS card to balance what felt like the busy-ness of that one! I started by stamping the green ground in pear pizzazz and the tree itself. For the leaves, I did the baby wipe technique. You grab a baby wipe, put it on your stamp-a-ma-jig mat or some other plastic (to prevent getting your grid paper wet) and add drops of ink from your re-inkers – I used crushed curry and cajun craze. Then when you ink up your stamp, you get an interesting blend of colours, just perfect for turning leaves. You can keep inking up your stamp and making more cards for a while so it’s not as wasteful in ink as it first looks. I then stamped the sentiment from Watercolor Wishes.

I matted this in pear pizzazz and put it onto a cajun craze card base to finish my very CAS Totally Trees card. Love all the white (well, very vanilla) space.

Totally Trees for CAS Colours & Sketches

Happy Thursday which means it’s time for another challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and it’s the beginning of a new month which means that it’s time for hostess duties to change – this month it’s Karen setting the challenges. She chose a bright trio of primary colours for us to use and for some reason that meant the Totally Trees stamp set to me!

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees and All About Everything

Here’s the banner which inspired my card:

I started by stamping the sentiment from All About Everything in real red and then added basic black trees from Totally Trees (I really love this set, it’s going to get a lot of use) to surround it. Then I grabbed the other two chosen colours and used them for the splodge – a technical term! – for each tree. I played a bit with mats before determining that island indigo on a real red card base was the most fun.

Since my stamps were inked up, I added a tree to the envelope front. Why not, right?

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees and All About Everything

Totally Trees is one of the brand new sets available in the new Holiday catalogue which is going live for customers today! If you’ve bought from me in the last year, you should already have received your catalogue – if not, just let me know and I’ll send one along. Or, if you don’t already have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and would like a catalogue, drop me a note and I’ll send one your way. In the meantime, click on the picture of the catalog on the left, and look at it online.

Once you’ve checked out the new catalog, I hope you’ll go to the challenge site and check out the cards by the rest of the design team and then have a go yourself. It would be great to see you in the gallery.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Totally Trees

Thanks for bearing with me through a rather disastrous weekend. As I said I’m happy that the house will end up a lot cleaner but we have a deadline – our father arrives on Friday. So that should keep the momentum going! But, to the real reason that you visited – a card. Today’s is using Totally Trees which is a set I can guarantee I’m going to use a great deal!

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees

So easy to make beautiful CAS cards with this set. I first stamped the solid shape in crushed curry and gave it a reasonable time to really dry. Next I used the embossing buddy and the new, totally beautiful, copper embossing powder. You need this. Let’s just say that I’m going to be ordering another pot in my next order! I cut down the piece of very vanilla until it looked right and then cut a piece of crushed curry 1/8 inch bigger. Before gluing it to my card, I heat embossed the thanks from Watercolor Wishes also in copper.

And there you have it – quick and simple and rather elegant.

Time to go and clean something before I leave for work!

See you tomorrow,

Liz
