Remarkable You

I have been meaning to play with Remarkable You for a while and today I realised that if I took off the stalk, it would look like a waterlily. And that sounded like fun.

Stampin' Up! Remarkable You and Tin of Cards

This is a set that I’m happy is making it to the new catalogue. I meant to have a watercoloured background of water or leaves but somehow that didn’t make it to the end result.

I stamped the flower from Remarkable You in melon mambo on very vanilla and then used an aquapainter to put a really pale wash of the same colour onto the flower. I then snipped it out – not as bad as it looks. Next I stamped the thanks, from Watercolour Wishes (yes again, I keep using this set!) in melon mambo and then the border comes from Tin of Cards. I love this border, I’ve only used it a couple of times so far but it creates a beautiful frame. Next I popped up my flower with dimensionals and that’s my almost one layer card done.

To make the envelope interesting, I dry embossed the envelope flap with the retired Spring Flowers TIEF. I’m getting in practice for the retirement of the envelope liners framelits!

See you tomorrow,

Party Pants meets Lighthearted Leaves

I was looking for some challenges to enter – I’ve not done many lately, I’ve been mostly focused on my cards for the Design Team at CAS Colours & Sketches. But this weekend I went looking for others and found CASology where this week it’s a cue card of DOODLE. Sounds like fun.

Stampin' Up! Party Pants and Lighthearted Leaves and Tin of Cards

Here’s the banner for the challenge:

One of my favourite recently retired sets is Lighthearted Leaves and that looks very doodled. I played around with it for a bit and then decided to pull out my so far unused Party Pants set and realised that I really like the base of my doodled leaf taking over the full stop at the end of the sentiment. I stamped both of these in the archival basic black. I added some colour with my bermuda bay Stampin’ Write marker and looked at my piece of whisper white on a bermuda bay base. I liked it, but there was something missing. I knew that I had a doodled sort of border somewhere. I started a full table scan of my stamp sets and found what I was looking for when I got to the Ts. Yes, they’re alphabetised, it’s impossible to find what you want otherwise.  Well, for me anyway! Tin of Cards has this fun border and I stamped it around the edge, masking off when necessary so that I got a good frame. I then glued my whisper white piece onto a bermuda bay card base and lined the envelope with the retired backgrounds DSP using the envelope liner framelits dies.

I was inspired by this month’s Paper Pumpkin to use bermuda bay – it apparently isn’t a colour that I use very often. I really like it, so I’m not sure why I don’t use it very much. It may appear more often in the near future. I encourage you to take a look at your cards and cardstock and pull out a colour that has been neglected. It’s quite fun.

See you tomorrow,

Liz
