Serene Scenery DSP Stack

Okay is the Serene Scenery DSP Stack one of the most gorgeous you’ve seen? Yes, I thought so!  One side of the paper we have photos and the other is patterns. What’s not to love? I decided to pair one of the photos which has the sun peeking through with the awesome word die cut from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits dies.

Stampin' Up! Serene Scenery DSP

The stack has old olive and delightful dijon as a couple of the mentioned colours and so the skinny mat of old olive made sense. I tossed up between crumb cake and delightful dijon for the base and the sunshine diecut but the crumb cake was a little too bland. The delightful dijon on the other hand was fun. So I stamped the hello first in old olive – it’s from the Crazy About You set – and then glued the DSP to the old olive. I added that to the delightful dijon card base. Next came the sunshine from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits and I included the dot over the i which I hadn’t really noticed previously. The Pick Me Up tool (available from Amazon) really helps with tiny pieces of cardstock or embellishments.

If you’re using a DSP stack, you can get enough DSP for your envelope flap if you make the DSP 3 3/4″ by 5″. This really means that you need an extra mat, but being able to cover the outside flap of the envelope to coordinate is worth it!

Take a look at your DSP stacks and have some fun!

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Blooms and Bliss DSP

Have you seen the Blooms and Bliss DSP? It’s gorgeous. There are combinations of purples in it, sweet sugarplum and rich razzleberry, but also teals, island indigo and mint macaron. I already made a card with the purples, today it’s time for the teals. I work at GAF and one thing that I love is that the IT and Finance departments get together monthly to celebrate the birthdays that occurred during the month. However, they only celebrate the employees’ birthdays. I have 6 people reporting to me and 5 of them are contractors. So I decided to make cards for all of my team, contractors or employees. This Sunday is Dave’s birthday and apparently he doesn’t like to make a fuss about his birthday. Hence, I’ve made a card that’s almost camouflaged!!

Stampin' Up! Blooms and Bliss DSP and Hello You thinlits

I love this DSP, it’s apparently mint macaron, island indigo and whisper white although I found that very vanilla went very well with it. I tried all of the colours for the die cut and finally decided on mint macaron. The Happy comes from the Hello You thinlits dies and I glued it to the DSP with my 2 way glue pen. I then attached the DSP to a card base of island indigo. And that’s all this Blooms and Bliss DSP camo card needs. I hope Dave likes it. At least I expect he’ll like the biscotti that I’m planning to bake, he loves those.

Don’t forget that this month is a great time to join Stampin’ Up! – and there’s no downside to it. If you join up this month and get $125 of product plus 2 free stamp sets for a mere $99 with free shipping and never buy another thing, it’s okay. If you want to keep buying product and enjoying a 20% discount, that’s even better. If you spend or sell $300 per quarter (not including your starting partial quarter) you stay active and keep getting your discount which can grow to 25%. What’s to lose? If you have any questions let me know, but your best bet is to just sign up!

Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies

As you know my first order from the catalog arrived about 10 days ago and I’m having loads of fun working my way through the different things. Today I’m playing with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies which have so much potential. I decided to do a simple card showcasing them even though it’s not Valentine’s Day, but you could use this card for an anniversary or just because.

Stampin' Up! Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies

I cut out the image and the word, which are both from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies set, in real red and used the 2 way glue pen to adhere them to the panel of whisper white. I put that panel onto a mat of real red giving a skinny frame before putting that onto my favourite thick whisper white card stock. Don’t forget to score the thick whisper white before folding – it gives a much cleaner fold.

The card is sitting on the envelope – the photo doesn’t really show the pattern, it only shows that it’s bumpy! I embossed the envelope flap with the happy hearts embossing folder which I thought matched really well with the die cut heart. I love that the die cut is actually just a single cut – it looks as if I’ve layered 3 hearts in a very artistic way, but actually, Stampin’ Up! did all that artistry for me, and it’s a single piece! Isn’t it brilliant?

Have a great Tuesday – I have a friend coming for dinner as she does a couple of times a month after volunteering at the food pantry. We help by cooking dinner. I think I promised a strawberry shortcake to both her and my brother. I guess that means some carding time whilst it’s cooking!

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate

I’m calling this a Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate although I am using a few extra products – however they are easy to switch out if you haven’t got what I used. I wanted to show that the dotty circle stamps makes for a really fun background and since I had a “sunshine” on my pile of die cuts that I was “just cutting to see how they looked’ (tell me you do that too!), it begged to be added to the card.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate - Banner Surprise and Sunshine Wishes and Crazy about you

I started with the idea of just doing 5 circles across the card in pumpkin pie and melon mambo but I needed to fill in the bottom of the card too for balance. I looked at the sentiments in the Paper Pumpkin Banner Surprise kit and although they are useful (happy, birthday, graduation, anniversary etc) they didn’t go with my sunshine die cut from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits set. So I pulled out the Crazy About You, a set that I’m so grateful has carried over along with its thinlits, and stamped the HELLO in crushed curry – the same colour as my die cut by the way.

I tried all three of the colours that I’ve used as a base or even as a mat but there was already enough colour and I finally decided on a thick whisper white card base. So that’s it – my first Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate. I think it’s a very happy card, let me know what you think.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies for GDP

Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies for what? Yes, GDP, it’s not some kind of designer paper, but the Global Design Project which I enter every now and then. I really should enter more often, they have fun challenges.

Stampin' Up! Sunshine Wishes thinlits dies and Blooms and Bliss DSP

Here’s the banner which inspired this card

Don’t you absolutely LOVE this DSP? I can see actually running out of it which would be a first! The whole package is absolutely gorgeous – blooms and bliss DSP in case you’re wondering. It’s a fairly fast and CAS card – I cut a piece of the DSP 4″ by 5.25″ which means I can make 6 out of a piece of paper by the way and glued it to a rich razzleberry card base. Both the flower and the sentiment are from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits dies set and they are also in rich razzleberry. I also tried it in sweet sugarplum but it didn’t give me the pop I wanted.

This photo gives you a good look at the envelope – I used the 1.5 inch piece left from my 4 inch strip to cut out a number of butterflies using the same thinlits set. I tried three, but one was the right number for the envelope. So I had some left. Where to use them?

Stampin' Up! Sunshine Wishes thinlits dies and Blooms and Bliss DSP

Of course, the inside. For one of them at least! The sentiment comes from the My Hero set which is a set you need. It’s this year’s charity set – when you buy it, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. I love that they do this and always buy the designated set. It’s good to give back.

If you haven’t got a catalog just email me at lizbaileycards@gmail.com and I’d be happy to send one along. The catalog is online (the button’s over there on the left) but it’s nicer to sit with a coffee and a highlighter to make notes. I’d definitely add today’s products to the list. Oh yes, I did!

I’ve been playing with the detailed floral thinlits dies again – come back tomorrow for another example.

See you tomorrow,

Liz
