Field Journal

This week I’m focusing on the cling stamp set Field Journal (152609, $22). It’s a lovely set of line drawings with a few sentiments.

The line drawing was stamped in Smoky Slate stamped off once first. The image was coloured using watercolor pencils with a blender pen to smooth out the pencil lines. Colours used were cherry cobbler, old olive and early espresso. The image was cut out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies and then popped up with dimensionals on top of a layer embossed with the Subtles TIEF.

A skinny layer of old olive provided a frame and that was adhered to a thick whisper white card base. Finally the sentiment was stamped in old olive, cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies and glued in the corner.

I’ll be demonstrating this card along with 2 others at my Facebook Live on Sunday at 11am EST.

Love of Leaves bundle

The Love of Leaves bundle consists of the Love of Leaves stamp set and the Stitched Leaves dies (155195, $47.50) and this card uses both.

The leaf is stamped in mango melody and then I used sponge daubers and cherry cobbler and daffodil delight to add some more texture. This was then cut out with the Stitched Leaves dies. Next I embossed a piece of whisper white with the subtles folder and matted it in mango melody. This was then layered onto a thick whisper white card base.

As before, I added some of the snowflake splendor ribbon, this time, just a little strip. Incorporating it with the leaf meant that it was easy to glue it to the back of the leaf. Next a sprinkling of rhinestones and then a sentiment, cut out with the Stitched Rectangle dies and popped up with dimensionals.

I’ll be demonstrating 3 cards using the Love of Leaves bundle at my usual Facebook Live on Sunday at 11am EST – please join me or watch the replay.

Playful Penguins

This week I’m playing with the Playful Penguins cling stamp set (150532, $22) and there’s a lot to play with. Three penguins, 5 sentiments and 3 ways to dress them up – in addition to the bow-tie I used here, there’s also a hat and a scarf.

I stamped the penguin in memento and then added his real red bow-tie. I cut him out with the stitched rectangle dies and layered him on a piece of real red. I added some of the Snowfall Accents puff paint for him to stand on and then heated with the heat tool to make it look puffy.

The large whisper white layer was embossed with the Subtle textured embossing folder and layered onto a real red card base. The finishing touch was a real red cotton bow. I can see a lot more cards made with Playful Penguins!

Rooted in Nature

One of the new bundles in the catalog that caught my eye immediately is Rooted in Nature with the matching Nature’s Roots framelits dies.

Here I’ve paired it with the Subtle embossing folder for some texture and shaded spruce and granny apple green for a masculine birthday card. Actually it was for my brother, Martin.

When you’re using the banner triple punch it’s a good idea to cut the cardstock just a smidge narrower than the punch. It allows you to make banners of 1″, 1.5″ and 2″. I like to be about 1/16″ less so that it will slide in easily. It’s also a good idea to have the words showing through the punch so that you can be certain you’re not punching some of the sentiment by accident.
