Farewell to Stylized Birthday

I just noticed that Stylized Birthday is on the retiring list. It’s a one stamp set, only available in wood for $10. I’ve only made a couple of cards with it, BUT I’ve used it over and over inside my cards. In fact, it rarely gets put away.

I’m really going to miss it for inside the card. For the outside when I want a big greeting, I tend to use the multipurpose adhesive sheets and the Happy Birthday thinlits die which produces a nice large greeting for the front of the card. It also means that you can cut out a selection of colours and then decide which you prefer. I have a little stash of the die cuts!

But the stamp is retiring – it’s guaranteed to be available until May 25th but if you want anything other than stamps, don’t wait. Everything else is as supplies last. Don’t forget to check out the Clearance Rack too – there are some wonderful bargains there.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Stylized Birthday

I’m really having fun pulling out Designer Series Paper and actually using it. Rather than pulling it out, looking at it and putting it back, it’s being made into cards which will be sent and shared with people. Such an idea! At Onstage last month, Sara was talking about “make a card, send a card” because it’s a bit of a demo habit to have cards in boxes, unsent. Which means that we’re not sharing what we’re creating. Such a shame. So I’m embracing the making AND sending of DSP cards, egged on by Eimear, my sister’s upline in the UK. Her challenge to her team this month is to create ten cards using up old DSP and send them. Want to join us? Today’s card is a simple one featuring the Stylized Birthday stamp.

I wasn’t sure about the stamp set, Stylized Birthday, – it’s just a single stamp with a wooden block for $10. I wasn’t sure it was very versatile, but I’ve used it loads since I’ve got it. It’s just as useful inside the card as on the outside and here, it adds just the right touch to this beautiful bokeh piece of designer series paper. I heat embossed it in gold and it makes a really classy birthday card. The base is old olive and I left just a tiny border. After heat embossing, I like to use fast fuse to attach the paper – it usually ends up a little warped even though I put some heat onto the backside of the paper which flattens it out a little.

Stylized Birthday

Here’s a stamp which isn’t retiring – Stylized Birthday. It’s also a really handy – and economical – one. It comes only in a wood mount and is only $10. I haven’t had it long, but it’s extremely useful. I realised I’d been using it a lot on the inside of cards and decided that it deserved to be displayed on the outside. So here is it along with some retiring Party Animal DSP – still available this morning.

I first selected the piece of DSP, which is pacific point and whisper white and decided that it needed another color. The color scheme came about because I have rather a lot of ribbon in the retiring in color, mint macaron, so I added a strip of that around the DSP and then added a bow. The Stylized Birthday is stamped in mint macaron also on whisper white and carefully cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies – it JUST fits. I used dimensionals to pop this up so that there wasn’t a lump where the ribbon was. Easy card to create and it uses up DSP. A win win!
