Inside the Lines Colored

I saw a Facebook Live with the CEO of Stampin’ Up!, Sara Douglass, a few days ago and she was doing an emboss resist card using the Brushstrokes stamp set. Since I seem to be addicted to that technique at the moment, how could I not have a go?

I took a piece of Inside The Lines DSP, which was a paper from Sale-a-bration, and used the versamark and the Brushstrokes stamp before sprinkling the clear embossing powder and heating. I then used the cucumber crush dauber to add some colour to the paper. It really wakes up the paper. Fun. I then added a cucumber crush sentiment from Bunch of Blossoms which I cut out using the Stitched Shapes framelits dies. A little baker’s twine bow in cucumber crush finished the card which was added to a cucumber crush card base.

Inside the Lines DSP

I’ve been colouring the Inside the Lines DSP for the last few evenings, relaxing at my kitchen table after stressful work days. It really does help. There are days when I get home from work and my “creativity gene” is blown out and I find I can’t design a card. I can copy one I’ve already made or put a stamp set together but now I find, I can colour. And that is actually being creative – much more fun than tidying up or building a wood block stamp set!

I pulled out a bunch of watercolor pencils and decided to stick to pinks and reds for the flowers, so melon mambo, rich razzleberry, real red, calypso coral and old olive. I also used a blender pen. It’s been a lot of fun colouring my own DSP – I have no idea why I took so long to pull out this paper. I also have no idea why I didn’t design the card first and not color the parts under the sentiment, but I guess it wasn’t about the final product but about the journey. I encourage you to pull out the Inside the Lines DSP and relax yourself. And once you’ve done that, you’ve the base for a pretty card – I put mine on a base of old olive and used Suite Sayings in melon mambo for the sentiment. I kept it pretty simple with the stitched shapes framelits dies because the DSP is the main part of the card.

In case you’re wondering about the pot – it’s one that my father made for my mother to keep things in on her bedroom dresser. He’s pretty awesome with the lathe!

Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack

Yesterday I played with the very glittery glimmer paper assortment pack; it’s one of the items that you can choose for free for each $50 spent (before taxes and shipping) during Sale-a-bration. This ends on March 31st, so you need to act fairly swiftly to get your hands on this. And you will want to. It’s so much fun.

This card was made using the Stylish Stems framelits dies which are awesome. You can cut out the flower or, as I’ve done here, cut a flower in your card and have something peek through, like the sweet sugarplum glimmer paper. It really is the perfect way to show off the glimmer paper. I also used the same dies set to cut out the leaves using the mint macaron glimmer paper.

To hide the fact that the ends of my leaves were all over the place and to finish off the card, I used a sentiment from Designer Tin of Cards which was still out after my playing for the last few days and sweet sugarplum ink. After trying a few mats, I decided to keep it simpler and cut out my sentiment using the Stitched Shapes framelits dies. I love these – they add just enough interest to the card to negate the need for a mat so they are perfect in a case like here where a mat was just too fussy.

Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration free products are now whilst supplies last. So if you want the glimmer paper assortment pack, (or any of the others), I’d advise ordering sooner rather than later.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Designer Tin of Cards part 2

On Monday I shared a card that I made with some of the supplies in the Designer Tin of Cards, here’s the card using the rest of the supplies for that same card. All this one uses apart from what’s in the kit, is a scrap of very vanilla for the circle to put the sentiment on. The kit did supply one, but it’s whisper white which I don’t like with the DSP background since it has very vanilla in it. Monday’s card used a few more extras, but basic ones – a delightful dijon card base, a tiny strip of Moroccan DSP, more very vanilla for the sentiment and a scrap of early espresso for the mat. So I’ve just stretched my Designer Tin of Cards from 16 cards to 20 with very few extra supplies and I’m working on stretching it to 24!

Here I took the card base from the kit which has the DSP printed on it to the edges and added the flag. I got my scrap of very vanilla and stamped the sentiment from the coordinating Designer Tin of Cards stamp set in cajun craze and cut  it out with the stitched shapes framelits dies. I popped it up with a few dimensionals and I was done.

Bookcase Builder for a girl!

I set out to make a card to welcome the baby boy that one of my coworkers is having in May. I was playing around with the little stamps in the Bookcase Builder set and somehow ended up with another card for a girl! Maybe I’ll take a break from baby cards for a bit – the set certainly isn’t only for baby cards.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Bookcase Builder - Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies

I stamped some of the little stamps in various subtles colours and cut them out using the smallest square from the Stitched Shapes framelits dies. I then just arranged three of them until I liked the look ending up with blushing bride, so saffron and pear pizzazz which is how the card ended up for a girl again. So I went with it and stamped the sentiment from the same set (I love the typeface)  in blushing bride to match.

I popped up the little squares with stampin’ dimensionals which made it harder to line everything up. I used my grid paper and a couple of rulers to ensure I got the duck in the centre and then added the squares to the left and right. But although I had my rulers, it’s hard to line up because the dimensionals mean that the edges are higher than your rulers!

Don’t forget that I’m offering Bookcase Builder as a raffle prize this month – every order in February using the workshop code below gets entered into the raffle.
