Sprinkles of life cone

Here’s another card that I made at the last crop (and it’s not long until the next one!). I’d planned to spend some quality crafting time this morning but I’m off to a pig roast today and I’ll be going early to help. So I’ve made apple chili sauce and smoked trout pate; the latter made with the trout that my father caught yesterday and my brother smoked last night. Good stuff.

Stampin' Up! Sprinkles of Life

This is using the Stampin’ Up! set Sprinkles of Life which is this year’s charity set. Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities for every set bought. It’s a fun set and it helps a charity. Win win.

I stamped the cone in Delightful Dijon on very vanilla and then used the matching punch to cut out the scoops of ice cream after I’d stamped them in the same colour as the card. I used mint macaron, chocolate chip and blushing bride to make my Neapolitan looking ice cream cone. I decided that a real cone with this many scoops would not be perfectly straight so I angled some of them a little. The sentiment is from the same set and that’s also in chocolate chip. I glued this onto a delightful dijon card base. And for once, I’m using the new in colour stack to line the envelope.

See you tomorrow,

Sprinkles of Life

This is the set that gives to the Ronald McDonald charity for every set purchased, which is a good reason to buy it. It’s a set with loads of images so there is lots of scope for masses of cards too.

Stampin' Up! Sprinkles of Life and Greetings thinlits dies

This is another card that I made at the crop in July. I embossed the basket in early espresso on whisper white and then stamped the flowers in wild wasabi. Using a blender pen I used rose red, wild wasabi and so saffron to colour in the image making sure to get various strengths of colour. For example the yellow flowers are coloured completely in so saffron with a fairly intense colour for the centres and a lighter touch for the petals. I cut out the image using the circles framelits and then cut out the next largest circle in rose red.

I love the new designer series paper stacks and wanted to use one of them as a background – this is the one in so saffron. I matted it with whisper white since it didn’t look quite right directly on the base of rose red. To finish the card off I cut the thanks with the Greeting Thinlits dies in wild wasabi – I seem to use these dies rather frequently. I really love having words that I can die cut and add to a card. Oddly when I used to buy cards before I started making them, I used to look for the cards that had no sentiments. Now, I really like to add one. Go figure!

I’ve been a bit busy over the past day or so – my father arrived from the UK last night which is wonderful. I even tidied up the my craft area aka the kitchen table!

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Monday fun at Simple Stampin’

I was reading Susan Itell’s Simple Stampin’ blog this morning and she likes to issue a personal challenge on Mondays. Today’s was to use four colours from the same colour family. I started off using the subtles but moved onto an autumnal idea and the regals. This is also a sneak peek of the new catalogue (going live tomorrow!) since the stamp set, Sprinkles of Life is the new charity set  – for each one purchased, Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to Ronald McDonald.

Stampin' Up! Sprinkles of life

I started by stamping the tree in always artichoke on very vanilla card stock. I then decided to use the baby wipe technique for the leaves. You take a baby wipe and put drops of different re-inkers onto it. I used cherry cobbler, crushed curry and cajun craze and then pressed the leaves stamp firmly onto the baby wipe to get inked up.  As you can see, you get a great variegated image. I liked it so much that I decided to do the same thing for part of the sentiment. The sentiments are both from the Endless Birthday Wishes set – a familiar set if you’re in the US, new tomorrow if you’re not.

I mounted my very vanilla piece onto a piece of cajun craze just 1/8 inch larger than the vanilla. This then was mounted onto a crushed curry card base. I didn’t think about my envelope until I’d cleaned the stamps so I decided that some dry embossing was the way to go. I used the retired folder Pretty Print to coordinate with the script of the sentiment.

Yesterday was my one year anniversary of starting to make cards and also of becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. What a year of fun it’s been. I’ve made 587 cards (not all different) and had a great time, met a lot of fun new people and sent way more cards than in the previous year! Why not join in the fun? You won’t regret it. Just fill in the Contact Me form and we can chat.

See you tomorrow,
