Wonderful Year CAS card

I’ve been meaning to use this stamp set, Wonderful Year, for a while but it’s another that just hasn’t happened. Until today! Here’s a fun, clean and simple, easily mass produced card.

I adore the textured impression embossing folder, pine bough. It’s really versatile and adds beautiful texture to cards. I used it to dry emboss my background of whisper white which I adhered to a real red card base. The sentiment is from the Wonderful Year set and I stamped it in real red, cutting the piece down and creating a mat out of real red. The matted sentiment is popped up with stamping dimensionals so that I didn’t have to be concerned about gluing it to an uneven layer.

I hope you enjoy your weekend, and have some time to get creative. I’m going to be at my local Onstage – a day of partying with Stampin’ Up! and demonstrators. I’ve never been before and I’m really looking forward to this.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the hostess code to get free product; the current one is GWTDK7RM (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free gift from me). Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Today the star of the card (which feels small after the last two days of huge cards) is the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. And it’s a really fun and relaxing card to make.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Embellished Ornaments - Mini Pinecones

I started by running a piece of whisper white through the big shot in the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, or Pine Bough TIEF for short. Then I took a dauber and after sponging a little onto scrap paper, carefully coloured all the raised pine leaves in always artichoke. I tried using a sponge also but because there’s more give in it, it wasn’t as accurate. Truth to tell, there’s an error on this card too, but it’s hidden under the bow! The cherry cobbler greeting comes from one of last year’s sets that carried over – Embellished Ornaments.

For decoration, I used three strands of the cherry cobbler baker’s twine (from the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack) and tied a bow. I then used another piece to attach the fun mini pinecones and attached the whole embellishment with a couple of mini glue dots. I attached this all to an always artichoke card base, a colour that I’m growing rather fond of now that we no longer have mossy meadow. If we still had it, I’d never have appreciated the always artichoke.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Merry Tags Framelits Dies

For today’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge, I’m using the Merry Tags Framelits Dies. Yes, another Christmas card. I’ll work on some non-holiday ones soon!

Stampin' Up! Pine Bough TIEF and Merry tags

Here’s the sketch which inspired my card:

I decided that in order to keep my card CAS, I’d use embossing to add the second background whilst keeping the colour the same  I chose whisper white and the pine bough TIEF.  Once I had that, I added a sentiment from Star of Light in emerald envy before adhering the mat to the whisper white extra thick card base. This left the oval type element.

A couple of days ago, I’d used the  Merry Tags Framelits Dies and created a tag but ended up with some leftovers. I figured that they could be useful and glued them to a piece of whisper white before cutting it out with one of the new ovals framelits. I popped it up with dimensionals to finish the card.

I hope that you’ll pop over to the challenge blog and check out what the rest of the team have created.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Pine Bough TIEF

Here’s a very clean and simple Christmas card using a few new products – I just can’t help myself! I started by dry embossing a piece of emerald envy with the Pine Bough TIEF and then used the chalk marker to highlight the embossed pieces.

Stampin' Up! Pine Bough TIEF and Tin of Tags

This led me to deciding to emboss the sentiment in white to match the chalk marker – the sentiment is from the really versatile Tin of Tags set and it fits perfectly in the bottom corner left by the dry embossing! Often it really is all about the shape of the space for the sentiment. Once I’d added the sentiment, I attached the piece of emerald envy to an emerald envy base. I think that there’s scope for a red base with a red ribbon, and maybe more cut out pine twigs, but that’s for another day.

A couple of reminders:

Don’t forget to use up any bonus days coupons if you have any, they are only good through next Wednesday. Also you can only get the exclusive limited time bundle through next Wednesday (assuming supplies last that long)

Today is a fun day – at noon EST, I can sign up to go the Onstage Local event in Secaucus which is only about a 45 minute drive from me. It’s a day long Stampin’ Up! party just for demonstrators and this will be the first that I’ve attended. I’m very excited!

See you tomorrow,
