Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 3

Happy Monday! I hope that your week is starting off well – I assume it is if you’re in the UK since it’s a Bank Holiday. For me, a transplant to NJ, I’m off to work, looking forward to next weekend which will be a long one. But first, here’s my Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate 3 which was inspired by CAS on Sunday’s theme this week of balloons.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin August 2016 alternate

I took one of the card bases and one of the pockets from the kit and used the Balloon Bouquet punch on them in different directions to get these fun coloured balloons. The balloon strings are from Balloon Celebration and are stamped in island indigo to match the DSP as is the sentiment from Cottage Greetings. I offset the balloons a little so that I could keep lots of lovely clean white space.

Next it was simply a matter of arranging the balloons and then gluing them in place, one at a time, to try to keep the bunch as I’d planned. Three of them are glued and the last two are popped up with dimensionals. A pretty simple alternate although it does use quite a few other products – hopefully you have them or some that will work if you want to try this out.

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin August 2016

Well I’m taking a break from cleaning which is all I’ve done today (apart from a 30 minute run/walk and a chat with my sister) and I’m happy to say that things are improving massively. I’m getting a lot of satisfaction out of knowing that things are getting very clean although I’d love some time to craft. That will be tomorrow which is also the second anniversary of the start of my blog. So there will be blog candy – make sure you come back to check it out!

I haven’t shared the video of this month’s Paper Pumpkin, Bold Botanicals yet, so I’m going to remedy that today.

As I mentioned, I’m not thrilled with this kit and have been making a couple of alternatives – so far. I have more to come so stay tuned.

As a reminder – there’s a special going on right now:

Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate

It’s time for the first Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate idea. My kit arrived a couple of days ago and I decided to use the stamp set to create a card to enter Pootles’ colour challenge this week. Ever since Sam has extended the length of the challenge, I’ve missed the deadline and this week is no different. Since I share a card for the CAS Colours & Sketches on Thursday and Sam’s challenge finishes early in the morning (in the US) on Friday, the last day that I can enter is actually Wednesday. Still, even though I can’t enter (unless I’m awake at 1am), the card was inspired by Sam’s colours of mint macaron, blushing bride, sweet sugarplum and pool party.

Stampin' Up! Bold Botanicals - Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate

I started by using the Bold Botanicals largest flower and leaves stamp. I first inked it up with versamark and then mint macaron and stamped the image in the corner of a piece of whisper white. After adding the clear embossing powder and heating it for a glossy finish, I repeated that three more times. I next used my aquapainter and mint macaron, blushing bride and sweet sugarplum to colour in the images – it’s so much easier when you’ve heat embossed the image.

I cut down a piece of sweet sugarplum to make a square 4 1/4″ cardbase and glued on my painted panel. To finish off the card, I used one of the sentiments from the set and stamped it in sweet sugarplum. I punched it out using a 1 3/4 inch punch and then cut out a circle using framelits to give a small border. I popped this up with dimensionals.

So that’s the first first Paper Pumpkin August 2016 Alternate – I have a few more ideas to share soon.

Paper Pumpkin June 2016 Alternate 3

So here’s my Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate 3 using the washi tape as I’d promised. In fact, I let the washi tape dictate the complete colour scheme but I took the layout from the current challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Banner Surprise

And here’s the banner which inspired my card

I’d been contemplating what to do with some of the washi tape from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit and this sketch seemed perfect. I started by adding a strip of the washi to my thick whisper white card. Then I stamped the sentiment from the kit in peekaboo peach and followed that by using versamark and gold embossing powder. I punched it out with a 2 inch punch. For the second circle, I decided on a smaller piece of peekaboo peach with the second stamp from the kit embossed in gold aswell – it’s punched out with the 1 3/4″ inch punch. I glued the peach circle down but popped up the main element using dimensionals. My sister Caro had told me that she’d recently tried washi as an envelope decoration, so I tried that. Although I miss the envelope liners (and chances are that if there isn’t an envelope photographed, it’s likely using a liner), I now think more about liners rather than just automatically dressing up the envelope that way. That’s a good thing!

Paper Pumpkin June 2016 – Banner Surprise

Stampin’ Up! always creates a video for each of the Paper Pumpkin kits and this month’s Banner Surprise is no different. Here they show the kit put together as designed.

Here are the two alternate ideas that I’ve created so far this month

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate - Banner Surprise and Sunshine Wishes and Crazy about you  Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin June 2016 alternate - Banner Surprise

and here are some alternatives from Stampin’ Up!

I’ve been looking at the washi tape that came with the kit and contemplating another use, so I should be sharing that soon.
