Gift bag punch board

In the new catalogue, Stampin’ Up! is bringing out a gift bag punch board. I already have one – I picked it up in Michaels last year with my sister. So I can show you what it can make.

I have a couple of new Paper Pumpkin subscribers and I thought that it would be nice to give them a thank you gift. Plus I’m still on a kick to use up the leftover pieces from my July 2014 kit. I made the two bags out of one piece of DSP – it’s a retired paper from the holiday catalogue – I was looking for something with Soft Sky to match the sticker. The white satin ribbon is also from the kit – there was about a yard left over which was perfect to thread through the bag. The white tags are also from the kit – I added a circle of soft sky to the back to add a pop of colour, cut out using the circles framelits. The soft sky coloured heart is a sticker from the kit (there are twelve of these) and I used the included stamp set for the sentiment in lost lagoon. I happened to have a spool of the Painted blooms cotton twine in soft sky (it was in a crop goody bag) and it was perfect for tying the tag to the bag incorporating one of the kits silver stars. I was thrilled that I still had the tissue paper that the kit was wrapped in – it was perfect to put inside the bags. Now I just need to work on the contents!

Alternate Paper Pumpkin Wish Big

Yesterday I showed the contents of the July 2014 Paper Pumpkin Wish Big kit made up to the included instructions. There were a lot of remaining pieces so I decided to play with some of them.

I took the negative where I’d removed the stickers to put the word WISH on yesterday’s card and put it on a piece of whisper white. This meant that the card needed to be bigger than standard so I cut a piece of soft sky at 7″ by 7″ and folded it in half. I stuck with the original colour scheme and stamped the sentiment in blackberry bliss. The star image is also included with the stamp set from the paper pumpkin set and is also in blackberry bliss. I surrounded it with one of the silver stars from the kit (there were forty like this and forty from the inside of this star).

For the envelope I used a piece of Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP (from this year’s Sale-a-bration) which I sponged in soft sky and then used the envelope punch board to make this envelope.

Since there are stickers to make six of the original cards, there are also enough negatives to make six of these. So far, therefore, that’s 12 cards and 6 boxes from this kit with minimal extra supplies! And there’s still more to play with…

See you tomorrow,

What is Paper Pumpkin?

I mentioned the Paper Pumpkin kit a couple of weeks ago but didn’t share a kit as an example. Here’s the kit from last July which I just received in my recent Stampin’ Up! order – one perk for Paper Pumpkin subscribers is that you can order past kits. My kit for this month is still in transit. I say that this is the kit, but it’s actually just making the kit according to the instructions – there are quite a few pieces left for other projects after you’ve made six cards and six gift boxes.

The “WISH” and the striped border are stickers so they are just applied to the card. The kit includes an exclusive stamp set with ten images and a blackberry bliss ink spot, the hardest part was deciding what to stamp! The silver stars are a large sheet with far more than you need for this, I’ll have to think what else they can be used for – including the stars from the middle of these stars.

There were options for the tag on the box too. The kit has both hearts and star stickers and of course there’s again the choice of which sentiment to use. I’m going to use the remaining 5 cards and boxes for an upcoming class but plan to create some other projects with the leftovers.

I wasn’t very impressed with Paper Pumpkin a year ago but now the kits have improved immensely. I was feeling creatively blocked today and couldn’t come up with anything myself that I wanted to make and it was so easy to open the Paper Pumpkin box and just enjoy making something. No decisions, just create. And now I have leftovers and, even better, a new stamp set.
