Paper Pumpkin for April is on its way

It looks as if my April Paper Pumpkin is going to arrive today! As always, I’m excited for it to get here so that I can play. Here’s the video showing this month’s kit

This card is inspired by yesterday’s and also by the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week. It’s a very sweet combination of colours, so I’ve produced a sweet card.

Here’s the colour banner which inspired this, my fifth Paper Pumpkin March 2016 alternate.

I first cut a large circle in a piece of spare card using the circles framelits and then held that over my very vanilla piece. I used two of the stamps from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit, Pocketful of Cheer and mint macaron, blushing bride and so saffron ensuring that I stamped over the edge of my mask. I decided to continue with the circles and stamped the sentiment (from the same kit) in mint macaron onto a scrap of very vanilla and then popped it out with a punch. There was something missing so I grabbed my blushing bride cotton 1/4 inch ribbon. I don’t use ribbon a lot but when I do, this is my favourite. It’s so easy to work with. I wrapped a piece of the ribbon around the very vanilla layer and fixed it on the back. Then I glued down my sentiment circle. The very vanilla piece was then mounted on a mint macaron card base. Finally I made the bow and attached that with glue dots. It amused me that my iron gets the most use in ironing ribbon for carding!

The envelope liner was made using the envelope liners framelits dies and paper from the 2015-2017 in colors DSP stack in mint macaron.  and did you notice the #I’mbringingbirthdaysback also stamped on the envelope? I’m continuing my plan to give out more cards although today’s card isn’t helping much! I definitely need more male birthday cards.

I’m working out the details of a Customer Loyalty program and I’m excited to be announcing the programme very soon.

Paper Pumpkin March 2016 Alternate 4

Well I’m up to my Paper Pumpkin March 2016 Alternate number 4. This one is just using stamping rather than re-purposing any of the DSP. And after Rebecca’s enthusiastic comments about Cucumber Crush, I decided to use that colour again today.

I used post it tape to mask the area that I wanted to stamp and then it occurred to me that it would be a little irritating if I messed up the sentiment after stamping all the leaves and flowers. So I peeled up the post it tape and stamped the sentiment. Of course it was fine! Then I set about using cucumber crush and rich razzleberry and two of the little stamps from the Paper Pumpkin, Pocketful of Cheer stamp set. I really like having the images continue over the edges so that it looks as if this is just part of a large piece of paper. One word of warning however – the ink doesn’t dry as quickly on the post it tape so be careful about getting it on your fingers and then on the card.

This was a lot of fun to make, I think I’ll play with the post it tape more often. It’s a permanent fixture on my desk so that shouldn’t be difficult – I use it as a holder for my multipurpose glue. It’s especially handy to have the glue upside down as you get towards the end of the pot and the post it tape holder works perfectly.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that the sentiment came from last month’s Paper Pumpkin kit, Hello Sunshine. This design really called for a single line sentiment and nothing in this month’s kit worked.

Firstly I’d like to thank Hannelie for choosing my card as an honourable mention at CASology. With 74 other cards to choose from, I’m very grateful that she chose mine.

Today I’m playing with the Paper Pumpkin March 2016 set again, Pocketful of Cheer. I’ve been using bermuda bay quite a bit over the last few days to make up for some neglect but I wanted to demonstrate that the kit also has a fair bit of cucumber crush in it. Here’s my card using leftovers from one of the cards that I didn’t make as per the kit.

I cannibalized one of the envelopes for an earlier card and I still had the flaps left, so I used the hexagon punch to cut out a few shapes. I then used one of the gift card holders (which obviously now wasn’t going to be going on the envelope) and got two hexagons out of that too. I then stamped a sentiment from the set in cucumber crush onto some cucumber crush card and cut that out (it’s easier to stamp and then punch) and punched out another cucumber crush hexagon for good measure. Then came the slow part of the card as I played with the placement (whilst talking to my brother at the same time, so very efficient multi-tasking) until I got the effect I wanted. I glued the hexagons down using the multipurpose glue with some of the shapes intentionally going over the edge. It was very easy to trim these with the paper snips since I could use the piece of whisper white as the guide. I then mounted this piece onto a card base of cucumber crush and finally added the hexagon with the sentiment which I popped up. It’s easier to put your card together, including gluing everything onto the card base before popping anything up so that you can get good pressure to ensure everything is stuck well.

We’re down to the last 6 days of Sale-a-bration so if there are any of the SAB sets that you want, you need to act quickly. It’s also a good time to stock up on basics since you can get freebies for buying things that you’d buy anyway throughout the year. I have a good stash of whisper white and very vanilla card now as well as matching envelopes. This also means that the sale on Paper Pumpkin is ending next week – and you don’t want to miss April’s kit because there’s a bonus free stamp set in it.

Paper Pumpkin March 2016 Alternate 2

Here’s my Paper Pumpkin March 2016 alternate 2. Since yesterday I used one of the squares that is designed to go on one of the cards, I had a few banners left over. So I decided to use them on today’s card.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Pocketful of Cheer

The pool party circle is a sticker from the kit but it’s actually the outside of the sticker left after removing the “intentional” sticker. I cut it out with my 1.25″ punch and cut the same size of whisper white. I then stamped on it with the grad hat from the Paper Pumpkin Pocketful of Cheer stamp set in Bermuda Bay and stuck the pool party ring around the edge. Next I punched out a bermuda bay circle using the 1.75″ punch and stuck the two leftover banners to that. At this point, I decided to stamp the sentiment before sticking anything to the whisper white layer. It’s stamped in bermuda bay again and after that was successful I glued on the circle and banners. I glued this whisper white piece to a bermuda bay card base. I find that it’s easiest to glue the card together before adding anything popped up with dimensionals – as my hat was.

After so much disuse, bermuda bay has leapt into the spotlight! I’ll have to try another neglected colour soon!
