Happy Birthday Thinlits Die

How awesome is the Happy Birthday Thinlits die? I wanted to make a quick birthday card and after looking at a few stamp sets, decided to go with a DSP based card and then I remembered the Happy Birthday Thinlits Die. Perfect! It’s especially perfect because of the new product, the multipurpose adhesive sheets. They make it so simple to adhere fiddly dies – just cut out a piece of the sheet, peel off the backing paper and it sticks to your card stock. Cut out the shape that you’re after and then you just peel off the other side of the backing paper and you stick down your die cut. It’s brilliant. No excess glue anywhere.

The DSP that I chose was the Fresh Florals DSP stack in lemon lime twist. I really like how this colour pops with black and the way that the half inch wide lemon lime twist border pulls your eye into the centre. I have a feeling that night of navy would be awesome too – I’ll have to give that a try.

A glue tip for you: I used to use SNAIL all the time when I started carding and then moved onto the multipurpose liquid glue. Lately I’ve gone back to SNAIL for adhering DSP, whisper white and very vanilla layers – the liquid glue sometimes leaves visible marks where it has been spread.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Tree Rings birthday card

A recent order had the background stamp, Tree Rings in it and I decided to make something that didn’t use anything from the Daisy suite for a change!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Tree Rings - Happy Birthday Thinlits dies

I stamped the Tree Rings in early espresso onto very vanilla after stamping off once which gave a nice sepia look. I added a early espresso border and intended to use a pear pizzazz card base and the same color for my die cut. Except my father was making pasta and that meant that my big shot station was dismantled for 20 minutes – I craft in the kitchen! So I picked up the two cutouts I already had of the Happy Birthday thinlits dies (with the awesome multipurpose adhesive sheets already applied) – fresh fig and lemon lime twist and I was really happy with how fresh fig went with the combo. Lemon lime twist, not so much! So a quick change and a card designed somewhat by accident. And I must say that I absolutely ADORE the multipurpose adhesive sheets, they are so easy to use. The multipurpose glue with the sponge dauber on the silicone craft sheet works pretty well, but this was simple and I can’t see me using the sponge dauber method again. Unless I’m out of the adhesive sheets that is.

Happy Birthday Thinlits Die

I’m still recovering from an upper respiratory infection and that means that I have nothing energetic planned today beyond a little walk and a lot of crafting. Sounds like the perfect day, right?! Today I wanted to share how easy the new Happy Birthday Thinlits die makes it to create a fun card.

I used the tranquil tide for the happy birthday thinlits die and it easily fell out of the die. The DSP is a piece from the new Eastern Palace Specialty DSP and I matted that with a more tranquil tide. I layered this all onto one of the new very vanilla notecards and the card was done. It would be perfect for the times when you need a birthday card in 3 minutes flat!

I can’t wait for the new multipurpose adhesive sheets which are coming in my order – that will make it even easier. For this one, I used a dauber, multipurpose glue and the silicone craft mat.
