Farewell to Happiest of Days

I’m continuing my Farewell to stamp sets that I will miss with Happiest of Days. Happiest of Days is a lovely little stamp set which I’ve used a lot in my classes. Here are some of my favourite cards to show the variety. Just click on a photo to go to the original post.

I’ve used this one for masculine and feminine birthday cards – this one is using tranquil tide and lemon lime twist in both markers and card stock. I love how it’s so simple and yet so effective.

Next a totally feminine birthday card featuring Whole Lot of Lovely DSP (still available last time that I looked), gold heat embossing, powder pink shimmer ribbon (not retiring!) and some colouring with pear pizzazz and powder pink Stampin’ Write markers.

Here I used a powder pink watercolor wash for the background to my card with some berry burst marker for the cake stripes. Set off with gold heat embossing, this card could be for any celebration.

I made this one solely to feature the gorgeous little powder pink bow. Pre-tried in case you’re bow challenged. I also love the deep fresh fig border around this one.

Happiest of Days

I think I’ve mentioned that I love the Happiest of Days stamp set. It really lends itself to elegant cards. Today’s is using the same two stamps as the last time, but it’s a totally different card.

I stamped the images in fresh fig easily by putting them on the same block and then used powder pink ink and a blender pen for the decoration and candles. The daffodil delight watercolor pencil and the blender pen coloured in the cake. I cropped the piece of watercolor paper as small as possible so that I could get a deep border of the rich fresh fig and still allow a powder pink mat. The finishing touch was provided by the 2017-2019 in color bitty bows. I overlooked these the first time through the catalog but they are awesome (and pre-tied for anyone who is bow challenged).

Happiest of Days watercolored

Happiest of Days is a really fun set with lovely line images. I decided to add a watercolor wash to the cake on the stand and I really love how it came out.

I put both stamps on the large E block and stamped them in versamark at the same time and then sprinkled on the gold embossing powder. Once I’d heated it to that gorgeous gloss, I used an aquapainter to apply a soft wash of powder pink to the background. I did try to use the aquapainter for the cake stripes but they were too muted and didn’t match the berry burst card base. But here, I have a birthday card that is easily mass produced if you’re short of birthday cards. I’m sending more cards these days and I need to ensure that I have a good stock!

Happiest of Days

I was making a few duplicate birthday cards since I need a few at the moment and as I was using the Happiest of Days set to do that, I decided to use another of the images in the set. I love the line drawings.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Happiest of Days - Whole Lot of Lovely DSP

I started by stamping the decorated sentiment in versamark and then heat embossing it with gold powder and then coloured in the rose and leaves using powder pink and pear pizzazz Stampin’ Write markers. I blotted it with a tissue in case I had any ink sitting on top of the embossing to prevent smudging. I intended to use dry embossing as a background but the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP called to me and well, you can see that I listened! And then I added a piece of the powder pink 3/8 inch shimmer ribbon and wow, I can see why two of the colors of this ribbon are backordered (only until the end of the month)! It’s really shimmery and really easy to tie – although I did my usual and the bow is a separate piece. It makes it easier to have the ribbon flat on the card if you do it in two pieces.

There are a few more images in this set; I think I may play later on today.

Happiest of Days

Here’s a card that we made recently in a class using Happiest of Days. It’s a very fun sketch set that could be used for weddings or birthdays.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Happiest of Days

We stamped the presents (all one image) in archival basic black and then the sentiment in lemon lime twist. Looking back over the month, it’s starting to look as if this may be my favourite colour which is amusing since this was the one that I was only planning to use for pops of colour! The presents are coloured in using the new tranquil tide and lemon lime twist markers taking care not to have the stripes and spots all symmetrical – I think it looks better that way.

To pull the card together, I used a very skinny mat of tranquil tide and layered that on a lemon lime twist card base leaving a nice deep border. I’m enjoying experimenting with different sized borders; it completely changes the look of the card.
