Small detailed floral thinlits

As I said yesterday, I’ve been continuing to play with the Detailed Floral thinlits dies. This time I took the small floral piece and used it twice, once at the top and once at the bottom of my piece of very vanilla.

Next I took the mint macaron ink and stamped the sentiment which is, yet again, from Watercolor Wishes. I really do have other sets! I glued this onto a cardbase of mint macaron using my 2 way glue pen. I need to find a replacement for this since I like that (unless you squeeze it) it doesn’t come out in globs and it almost never oozes out from under what you’re gluing. It just leaves a layer of thin glue which does exactly what you want – stays in place and holds what you’re gluing. I also use SNAIL, fast fuse and tombow for various purposes, but none of them are perfect replacements for the 2 way glue pen. If you have a recommendation for a glue you love, please let me know.

I wanted to add just a little something to the space and remembered that I still have some leftover mint macaron enamel dots from the last catalogue. Perfect. Take a look amongst your leftover embellishments – you’re sure to find something there if you’re anything like me!

See you tomorrow when I’m using Playful Backgrounds,

Detailed Floral thinlits and the new incolours

I was so tired after an extremely busy week that I didn’t even make today’s card last night. So this morning after extra sleep, I finally got to play with the contents of the box which UPS delivered on Thursday. I kept coming back to the detailed floral thinlits which were still out from Friday’s card and decided to use the so far unused third piece of the set to make today’s card. I also broke out flirty flamingo, a new colour which I hadn’t used before.

I cut a piece of flirty flamingo a quarter inch smaller than the card base (4″ by 5 1/4″) and carefully placed the floral die on top of it. Then I added the third piece which creates the curvy border and cranked these through the big shot. After a little attention from the big shot die brush to release all the little pieces it was good to go. Before gluing this to my piece of whisper white, I first stamped the sentiment from Watercolor Wishes in flirty flamingo. Actually, initially I was going to use very vanilla but the different look of the flirty flamingo on the vanilla just didn’t quite work with the piece of flirty flamingo that I’d die cut. No worries, I just switched to white. Perfect. After the stamping worked, I glued the die cut onto my piece of white and then attached that to a flirty flamingo card base.

I didn’t much like this colour to start with, but here, I love the look. Sometimes it takes a little time to warm up to some of the new colours. It definitely hasn’t taken me any time to love these new thinlits dies!

See you tomorrow,

Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies

Happy Friday! And apologies to those who tried to order Paper Pumpkin yesterday using the amazing 31 hour deal where new subscribers pay only $5. The 31 hours started on Thursday at 5pm MT and hence was not active yesterday morning. I was in training this week for 4 days and I was so focused on yesterday being the last day of it, that somehow it felt like Friday. And so yesterday’s blog post encouraged you to sign up. It’s even more of a happy Friday for me because me Stampin’ Up! order arrived yesterday evening so I got to play. Not as much as I was planning due to last minute birthday drinks with a friend from work and then my brother playing The Magnificent Seven which distracted me. But I did complete 1.5 cards. Here’s the one that I completed using the gorgeous Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies and their partner, the Floral Phrases stamp set:

The Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies consist of three pieces – I used the two main pieces to create this beautiful top panel for my card in very vanilla. Once I’d cut those out, I used the accompanying set, Floral Phrases to stamp the sentiment in sweet sugarplum. This piece was then adhered to a sweet sugarplum card base. It’s an incredibly easy card to do and looks even better in person.
