Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack

Yesterday I played with the very glittery glimmer paper assortment pack; it’s one of the items that you can choose for free for each $50 spent (before taxes and shipping) during Sale-a-bration. This ends on March 31st, so you need to act fairly swiftly to get your hands on this. And you will want to. It’s so much fun.

This card was made using the Stylish Stems framelits dies which are awesome. You can cut out the flower or, as I’ve done here, cut a flower in your card and have something peek through, like the sweet sugarplum glimmer paper. It really is the perfect way to show off the glimmer paper. I also used the same dies set to cut out the leaves using the mint macaron glimmer paper.

To hide the fact that the ends of my leaves were all over the place and to finish off the card, I used a sentiment from Designer Tin of Cards which was still out after my playing for the last few days and sweet sugarplum ink. After trying a few mats, I decided to keep it simpler and cut out my sentiment using the Stitched Shapes framelits dies. I love these – they add just enough interest to the card to negate the need for a mat so they are perfect in a case like here where a mat was just too fussy.

Don’t forget that Sale-a-bration free products are now whilst supplies last. So if you want the glimmer paper assortment pack, (or any of the others), I’d advise ordering sooner rather than later.

Another Designer Tin of Cards alternative

When I completed yesterday’s card, I started looking at the Designer Tin of Cards kit to see whether I could create two cards from another of the designed cards – or maybe just an alternative. Let’s see what I do with the leftovers from today’s card.

I used the card base from the kit but decided on letting more of it show. A strip of night of navy gave me the foundation for my sentiment from the Designer Tin of Cards set which I heat embossed in silver and cut out with the layering squares framelits dies. I wanted a little something extra and since the blossom bunch punch was still out from the previous card, I grabbed some silver foil scraps and punched out three of the smallest flowers. I finished these off with three of the enamel shapes in night of navy and glued them on with mini glue dots.

Designer Tin of Cards

I made a card from the Designer Tin of Cards project kit a couple of weeks ago using part of the intended supplies for one of the cards and today I’m using some of the rest. Actually, I’m only using the card base itself which still leaves some decorative items… I really didn’t want to cover up much of the pretty pattern, rather I wanted to feature it.

Here’s the card from a few weeks ago

and here’s a shot of what’s planned for the kit:

Designer tin of cards

So at my upcoming class, instead of creating 16 cards as per the kit, there will be the option to make 24 with a few extra supplies that I’ll provide.

For today’s card, I used the Designer Tin of Cards for the sentiment which I stamped in chocolate chip onto a piece of sahara sand and cut out with the layer circles framelits dies. I decided to do it backwards and used the scalloped circle for my top layer and cut a circle of watermelon wonder for it to sit on. It’s popped up with dimensionals. This wasn’t quite enough so I reached for my blossom bunch punch and punched out 3 of the smallest flowers. Pearls finished off the centres perfectly. So there you have it – a way to really stretch your kit.

Designer Tin of Cards part 2

On Monday I shared a card that I made with some of the supplies in the Designer Tin of Cards, here’s the card using the rest of the supplies for that same card. All this one uses apart from what’s in the kit, is a scrap of very vanilla for the circle to put the sentiment on. The kit did supply one, but it’s whisper white which I don’t like with the DSP background since it has very vanilla in it. Monday’s card used a few more extras, but basic ones – a delightful dijon card base, a tiny strip of Moroccan DSP, more very vanilla for the sentiment and a scrap of early espresso for the mat. So I’ve just stretched my Designer Tin of Cards from 16 cards to 20 with very few extra supplies and I’m working on stretching it to 24!

Here I took the card base from the kit which has the DSP printed on it to the edges and added the flag. I got my scrap of very vanilla and stamped the sentiment from the coordinating Designer Tin of Cards stamp set in cajun craze and cut  it out with the stitched shapes framelits dies. I popped it up with a few dimensionals and I was done.

Designer Tin of Cards for The Paper Players

I meant to share another Bookcase Builder card today to show you how versatile it is since I’m offering it as a raffle prize to all my customers this month. However I got so excited by my early prep for a class next month that I’ve made another with the Designer Tin of Cards. I was inspired to make this one by the Paper Players challenge this week and also because the card in the box is a little too fussy for me. So yet again, I’m taking just part of the card, adding a few basics and, when I use the rest of this card’s official supplies, I’ll have made one card out of two.

Here’s the banner which inspired my card

I took the piece of DSP from the kit and selected a bright and cheerful colour to go with it. I used the DSP that this piece comes from (Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP) to help my choice of watermelon wonder. I added a skinny mat and used the Hello You thinlits dies to cut out my huge happy and then took the birthday from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set. I could’ve also used the Crazy About You set for this, but the Designer Tin of Cards was already out!

The card needed a little something and the two smallest flowers punched out with the Blossom Bunch Punch added just the right touch along with a mint macaron enamel dot that I had leftover from, I think, the first ever pack of enamel dots that were produced in last year’s occasion’s catalogue. A rhinestone would’ve worked too but it felt good using up something from my stash. I put the flowers onto my pierce mat and pushed the back of my paper piercer into the centre to make the edges spring up a bit. You can also use one of the inserts from the clear block storage caddy. The mint macaron card base finished this off nicely with a deep border of mint macaron to set off the lovely sentiment.
