So Many Shells

After we’d been to a few appointments, my friend Julia said: “we really need journals to ensure that we remember all the information”. Of course being IT Professionals we thought about using Google so that we could all update the same document but you know what? We’re also Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and we love paper. So, yes, this isn’t as efficient, we can’t search it electronically, but it’s way more pretty and satisfying. And that is the key. Not everything has to be efficient. I had some 8 by 5 inch notepads which I’d bought to cover for downline presents and they are perfect for the task. As is the stamp set So Many Shells which has some amazing sentiments.

This is my journal which I covered in always artichoke card stock and then put on a piece of the beautifully happy flowers from the Delightful Daisy DSP. I adore this paper.

It was hard to decide on the color of the sentiment; I stamped it in always artichoke and then tried it heat embossed in gold but neither really worked for me. Until I decided to mix them up! I inked up the sentiment from So Many Shells in versamark and then always artichoke before stamping on a piece of whisper white and sprinkling on clear embossing powder. I heated it to get the glossy look. Then I took the always artichoke sentiment that I’d tried earlier and cut out the word healing leaving me with a mask. I put the mask over my clear heat embossed sentiment and stamped again in versamark. This time I sprinkled on gold embossing powder and heated it. The word “healing” is therefore double heat embossed and really raised up. I love how it emphasizes the word. I used the layering circles framelits to cut it out and to cut a scalloped always artichoke mat. Since I’ll be carrying this around, I used multipurpose glue to adhere everything so that the book is very flat – I don’t want to rip off the circles when it gets thrown into a bag.

I mentioned earlier this year that if you want a birthday card, just send me a message with your birthday and address. You can email me at lizbaileycards@gmail.com. But also, if you or someone you know needs a card just to say hello, or thinking of you, let me know that too. Because I have experienced recently how wonderful it is to receive cards and I want to pass that on.

Delightful Daisy DSP

You may have noticed that I’ve been sharing cards made with this piece of paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP collection recently. I’ve challenged myself to work through the entire sheet of 12 by 12 and see what I can make. Once I’ve completed it, I’ll share how I cut the paper for my one page wonder. At the current time, it’s not all cut!

I cut this piece of DSP into a rectangle and then randomly sliced through it, creating two similar pieces. I really love this paper on night of navy and used that as a card base. The sentiment is – do I even need to tell you seeing as I use it all the time?! – from Bunch of Blossoms stamped in matching night of navy and cut out with the stitched shapes framelits dies. The finishing touch is the new crushed curry 3/8 inch mini chevron ribbon.

Delightful Daisy DSP

I absolutely love this particular pattern in the Delightful Daisy DSP pack. It’s so happy! And now that the daisy punch is back in stock – although already marked as low inventory – I wanted to share this card. It’s easy, highlights a few of my new favorites from the catalog, and fun.

This is a 3 by 5 1/2 inch piece of the designer series paper with a night of navy mat which I then put onto the thick whisper white card base. The sentiment is from one of my favourite sets for sentiments, bunch of blossoms and I cut it out with the 1 3/8 inch circle punch. This is then popped up on top of two daisies which I punched out with the daisy punch.

Easy, quick and effective. What more could you ask for?!

High Tide

I’ve had the High Tide set for a while now and it just hasn’t made it to the top of the stack. I can’t explain that – it’s a great set and has some awesome sayings. I decided to use the same layout again and this saying was just the right shape for the card! Do you do that? Sometimes select a sentiment because it fits in the space correctly? It always makes me laugh when I do that.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - High Tide - Delightful Daisy DSP

This uses a large piece of paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP – 5 /14 by 4 inches on a night of navy base. I then made the top pieces – a piece of whisper white which “looked right” – 1 3/4 inches to be precise and stamped the awesome sentiment in more night of navy on one side so that the beautiful crushed curry mini chevron ribbon bow would fit. I also used crushed curry as the matting for the piece of whisper white; despite the yellow in the DSP actually being daffodil delight, it’s been watered down to get the watercolor effect and the actual card stock is just a touch too much in my opinion. Crushed curry works nicely – and of course goes well with the lovely ribbon.

Delightful Daisy DSP

I just used a teeny piece of the Delightful Daisy DSP for this card and it’s a piece that looks like leaves. I really think that this paper pack is one of my most favourites ever.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Delightful Daisy DSP - Daisy Delight - Soft Sayings Card Kit

I added the stamping from the Daisy Delight stamping in old olive on both very vanilla and old olive and punched them out with the Daisy Punch (back in stock currently!). I glued the two together for a two tone flower and finished it with a gold faceted gem. Love these! I added a mat of very vanilla around my piece of Delightful Daisy DSP to match the flower. And then I tried to make the gold embossing really sparkle in the photo.

The sentiment. Do you recognise it? It’s from the Soft Sayings Card kit which is a great kit – I’ve made all 20 of my cards already. I’ll share them soon. I embossed it with gold embossing powder to match the gem. A simple card but fun. And if you wanted to make a load, you could since it uses very little DSP.
