New Recruit Packet

Here’s one of the new recruit packets that I just recently created – and handed out! Also a 5 by 8 inch notebook which I covered as a gift for my new recruit.

I used the Painted with Love Specialty DSP and simply covered the notebook. I then used a piece of rich razzleberry to heat emboss the sentiment from Crafting Forever in copper. It’s one of my favourite sentiments – Do something creative every day. I truly believe that this is key to be happy. I added a copper foil mat cut out with the Stitched Shapes framelits dies.

recruit folder 2

Here’s the actual folder itself. I based it on one that Brenda Quintana made. I took a piece of 12 by 12 DSP and scored it at 3 inches to make the pocket. Then on the other side I scored at 6 inches. Then I cut at 1/4 inch and 11 3/4 inches just down to the 3 inch score line. This gives you a little tab to add glue so that everything is secure. I also cut a V to make it close better. I added a sheet of useful numbers and web sites along with my business card; also a welcome letter and card and my class schedule (including my team’s monthly meeting).

If you’d like to receive one of these welcome packets, all you have to do is to choose $125 of product and then press the Join My Team button below and follow the instructions. I’ll then receive an email telling me that you’ve signed up and I’ll send a package to you.

Crafting Forever

Here’s a fabulous new stamp set, Crafting Forever, which includes the copyright phrase in case you want to be able to sell your cards. It just needs to be stamped somewhere – I put it on the back of all my cards. But this set is a fabulous collection of images and sentiments. I love the “do something creative every day”. I truly believe that’s important. Creativity nourishes the soul. Well mine, anyway. Sometimes my creativity is cooking, mostly it’s cards. Sometimes I play my violin. But it’s all important to make you feel right. What do you do to be creative?

Here I stamped the pens and heat embossed using the copper embossing powder and then went to town with my aqua painter and three of the new inks – berry burst, lemon lime twist (yes, the one I was only using as an accent!) and tranquil tide. I put my piece of watercolor paper on a lemon lime twist mat and then used versa mark to create the pen background on the berry burst card base. I then added the perfect sentiment (although the one about housework is a pretty awesome one too!) stamped in more lemon lime twist on watercolor paper to ensure it matched. I cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies so that there was interest on the sentiment but it didn’t need a match mat in lemon lime twist. I popped that up with dimensional which I didn’t place well and thus discovered that poking a mini dimensional into a sagging space is easy. Love the mini dimensionals – 720 in a packet for $4. Good value. And cute!

Lemon Lime Twist

When I first saw the new in-colours back in April, I was immediately drawn to three of them. But I wasn’t sure that we needed Powder Pink since we have two other pale pinks (after playing with it, I see that I’m wrong) and I knew that lemon lime twist was just a bit too bright for me and I was only going to be using it in little pops of colour. But after I made yesterday’s card with berry burst, I wanted to make the same basic card in the other colours although I wanted to change it slightly each time. It was a surprise to me that the second card was with lemon lime twist. And I LOVE it!

For this card, I changed the card base from whisper white to lemon lime twist but still left the upper layer in the same colour. I used the same die from Eastern Medallions for my flower and then used my trimmer and Simply Scored to add the score line – this time I went all the way around the layer at a half inch from the border only skipping the actual petals of the flower. I had to add a piece of whisper white between the lemon lime twist layer and the card base for the peek through –  I made it 1/8 inch smaller than the upper layer so that there wouldn’t be an obvious line. Instead, this gives a little lift to the top layer – not as much as dimensionals would do, but a little extra lift.

The central part of the flower features a saying from a new set, Crafting Forever, which I stamped on whisper white and then cut out with the layering circles. I elected to leave the edge border off this time (of course I tried it, but it was too much). Do something creative every day. I think that’s a good idea. I’ll be sharing three more takes on this layout over the next week or so featuring the other three in colors. Here’s a side shot showing the lift on the petals
