Retiring Bundles

One of the things that happens as a catalog comes to the end of its active life is that some products that were bundled together for a 10% saving carry on to the next catalog. Normally when this happens, they are no longer bundled and the 10% instant saving is no longer available. I thought I’d point out the retiring bundles, i.e. the products that are carrying over into the upcoming catalog but will cost more from June 1st.

There are four of these in the Occasions catalog (and I’m happy that they are carrying over because I have all four!) – take a look below at the bundle along with my favourite of the cards that I’ve made with each. Tasty Treats Specialty DSP

I’ve been trying not to hoard my DSP, but I do struggle to cut into the special papers in the specialty ranges – for example this embossed shiny piece from the Tasty Treats Specialty DSP where the cherries and some of the strawberries have a lovely shine.

I wanted to showcase this paper, but on the other hand, it’s quite busy so it needed a large frame. I cut the DSP 1 1/2 inches smaller than the watermelon wonder card base so that I have a deep border and then added a pear pizzazz frame which is 1/8 inch larger than the DSP giving a teeny border that just sets it off nicely.\

The sentiment comes from the stamp set Cool Treats with the adorable little strawberry being cut out using the matching framelits, Frozen Treats. I did try cutting out a pear pizzazz strawberry and layering on the top, but it didn’t look as good as the watermelon wonder one so my little strawberry is more aesthetically pleasing even if not botanically correct! I cropped my circle using the layering circles framelits dies and then used the same dies to get the teeny scalloped border in pear pizzazz again to pull everything together. Popping the circles up on dimensionals just finished everything off perfectly.

Cool Treats bundled with Frozen Treats

Now although it’s still winter and cold out there, the Cool Treats feel summery. This was a set that we all got for free at the Onstage Local that I went to back in November but this is the first time I’ve inked it up. Somehow ice creams in November and December felt a little weird, but it’s perfectly okay in January. Maybe it’s because it was 60 degrees here in New Jersey yesterday. Go figure!

The Cool Treats stamp set is a 2 step and a photopolymer set so lining them up is a breeze. I used blushing bride and rose red stamped off once for the ice cream. For the adorable cone, I used delightful dijon stamped off once and I topped it with this awesome die cut (also in delightful dijon) from Frozen Treats. The sentiment (also from Cool Treats) is full strength rose red. I felt that there was a little something missing and that’s when I noticed the strawberry die cuts. Now these are really fun. I had three of them cut out quickly and then used the sponge dauber and multipurpose glue and silicone mat trick to glue them up without any excess splurging. A rose red card base finished the card off perfectly.
