Many thanks to LeAnne for selecting my card as A Cut Above at the Paper Players this week; it’s an honour to be chosen. Challenges are so much fun – I’d never have made that card without the colour challenge.
Today’s card was also for a challenge – and I held up my blog entry yesterday trying to get the card finished so that I could enter it in the Global Design Project‘s sketch challenge. Sadly I didn’t manage to complete my card until after the challenge link was closed. However, today I finished two cards inspired by the challenge.
I actually cut a piece of the Season of Cheer DSP and whisper white card at the same time with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits dies thinking to match up the curves. This didn’t work so well after I punched out the little pieces between the horses legs and the sleigh. Now I was left with missing blue for the background. This is really what sparked making two cards! I stamped the sentiment from Jingle all the Way in real red – I’d left just enough of the curve to match the curved sentiment. I then cut another piece of the DSP and mounted the whisper white on it. The night of navy mat is just 1/8 inch larger giving a skinny border before mounting this onto the new (to me) heavy weight whisper white card stock. It’s much more sturdy than the regular card stock.
As you can see, I used the envelope liner framelits and more of the Season of Cheer DSP to line the envelope. I do like to have them match the card.
See you tomorrow,
Liz
