Peaceful Pines

I had a couple of challenges noted down but when I came to make cards for them, amazingly, I combined them. I was planning to make a card for the CAS Colours & Sketches challenge which is to take any sketch challenge this year and make it Christmassy when I realized that the Pals colours this week were perfect for my card.

Stampin' Up! Peaceful Pines and Seasonal Frame Thinlits dies

Here’s the sketch that I used (#119) and the colours from the Pals Paper Arts challenge:

12-10 PPA279

The sun was shining so I took advantage to try to really show the gold foil off well. The word comes from the Seasonal Frame Thinlits dies which I cut out using the new precision base plate which really helps to get the word cut more cleanly and without little raised spots from the holes in the die. I stamped the present from the Peaceful Pines set in both cherry cobbler and mossy meadow as my three elements from the sketch. I did try every word die that I have over the presents to see which flowed the best – this time, I just held the dies over the card rather than cutting out every one! A mat of black set this panel off nicely before mounting on a cherry cobbler card base.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Thanks Jane – I appreciate your kind words. I was really pleased with how it came out – I’m slowly coming around to sketch challenges because I don’t think that I’d have made this card without it.

So simple and sweet. What a great showcase of the “falala” sentiment die. Thank you so much for playing along with this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge!

Thanks so much Rae. I hope to be back next week – I find sketch challenges quite demanding but I’m trying to stretch myself!
