Just 6 more days for the Party Pandas

I just noticed that I forgot to share this adorable card featuring the Party Pandas. Criminal! They are so much fun and you have just SIX days to earn them for free. They are free with a $50 product purchase until the end of the week when Sale-a-bration ends.

The Scattered Sequins TIEF that I used as a background for this card recently became available as a Sale-a-bration freebie too. An addition of the tutti frutti sequins makes the background even more fun. I colored in the panda’s hat with a watercolor pencil but you could also use Stampin’ Write markers. The sentiment is also from the Party Pandas. I’d definitely suggest this as a freebie choice – and if you’re taking advantage of Sale-a-bration to stock up on retiring in colors and basic supplies, you’ll earn a few freebies.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

In Colors

In May, Stampin’ Up! will announce what’s going to retire from the current annual catalog, but one thing that we know will retire are the 2016-2018 in colors (unless they are brought back in a color refresh as happens occasionally). Now is the time to snap up anything you need in these colors – especially a re-inker so that you can use your favourite color’s ink pad for a long long time to come.

Once the retiring list is announced, all products in these colors tend to go quickly. So now is the time to stock up whilst you have everything available AND you get to enjoy a freebie or two from Sale-a-bration if you order by the end of the month. Don’t forget that I’m also offering free stamp sets and bundles on top – see the buttons below. It’s definitely a win-win.

Beautiful Peacock

There are 9 days (including today) left in Sale-a-bration. So if you need anything in the Sale-a-bration catalogs, you need to move fast.

Here’s one of the sets that I really like that you can get for free – Beautiful Peacock. Click on the photo to go to the original post detailing how I made this. It also features the Amazing You stamp set and matching dies. The dies will be in next year’s annual catalog so here’s your opportunity to get it for free.

Playing with string

You will discover, once you find your old phone book, that playing with string with the String Theory technique is addictive. In just mere moments you can have quite a number of layers ready to make into cards. Here’s my first post on the technique and here’s Lydia Fiedler’s blog post which includes her video.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - String Theory - Celebrate You thinlits dies

I used a piece of twine that was natural and gold again and doused it in bermuda bay ink. The metal in the twine definitely adds to the effect by not taking up the ink. I made two loops in the twine and then another towards the bottom of the card, topped it with a second card and put it into my phone book. Then (using a glove!) I used one hand to press down on the phone book and the other to pull out the twine. I really loved the effect of two separate petals (?) at the top of my image. The space left was perfect for this sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday also stamped in bermuda bay. I of course mounted this on a bermuda bay card base.

It’s a good idea to wear gloves. It really is, BUT then it’s easy to add smudges of ink as I did on the top piece of card. So I cropped it, mounted it on a black piece of card and added a sentiment from Vertical Greetings. You can see that they are mirror images but they look very different.

I hope that you’ll have a go with the String Theory technique, it’s loads of fun. Just find a phone book, some gloves and see what you produce. I’d love to see what you come up with.

Don’t forget that we’re in the final days of Sale-a-bration the time where you earn freebies for every $50 of product or where joining the family gets you 2 free stamp sets of your choice. There’s also extra free product if your order is over $250. Click on the links below to join my team or shop. I’m also offering free stamp set or free bundles aswell.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Remarkable You

Remarkable You is a set in the current annual catalog and it’s perfect for colouring. Here I was still on my brusho kick, colouring everything in sight. I stamped the flower a few times before I got a decent image – at this point I didn’t have my stamparatus and I was wishing for it! I have it now although it’s at home (unwrapped) and I’m over in the UK visiting family. Luckily my sister has one…

liz bailey Remarkable You, brusho

I sprinkled some gamboge and yellow onto a block and used an aquapainter to color the flower. The moss green was on another block and had a tiny sprinkle of prussian blue. It’s really fun to add just a sprinkle of another colour and mix your own shade.

The sentiment is from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set – such a pretty typeface.

I made the image pop by adding a tiny black mat and then putting that on an old olive card base leaving plenty of the old olive showing.

I’m still addicted to the brusho crystals but sometimes I take a break and do other things!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
