Today’s card is showcasing a set in the annual catalog, Heartland. I sat down with a piece of watercolor paper, my archival black ink, some inks and an aquapainter and just coloured away. It was extremely relaxing. I’m not great at watercolouring, but it’s very enjoyable; my main tips are to do more than one at a time and not to use too much water in your aquapainter.
The colours that I used are pear pizzazz, marina mist, crumb cake, calypso coral (very watered down for a faint touch of skin color), smoky slate and a few dots of the pumpkin pie stampin’ write marker for the beak. Once it was dry, I went back and added a little more of the pear pizzazz and marina mist where the hatching was on the image, to give depth. I then matted this in black and used the first part of the sentiment included in the Heartland set. The whole sentiment was just a tad too long! So I inked up the part I needed with a marker and stamped it onto the marina mist card base.
Watercoloring is really fun and Stampin’ Up! makes it easy to figure out where to make it a little darker by adding the extra lines. Have a go – you’ll maybe surprise yourself.
I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
