Firstly I’d like to say Thank You very much to the team at CAS on Sunday for picking my recent card (a Paper Pumpkin May 2016 alternate) as a favourite. It was wonderful to go to the site to see this week’s challenge to find that I’d been chosen. And on a special day for me…
Happy Anniversary to me – Stampin’ Up! anniversary that is. Two years ago today I signed up to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and what a fun two years it’s been. As I’ve mentioned previously, my sister Caro is a demo in the UK (where we originate although I’m in NJ now) and she told me about Stampin’ Up! and how much fun it is. She further claimed that the colour coordination between paper and ink means that anyone can make cards. I insisted that this was not true and that I, having the creativity of a brick, would be unable to make any, so to prove this I bought a kit. After I’d made my six cards in one sitting (in between run to the computer to show her them on Skype) I signed up on the spot and had to wait, impatiently, for UPS to bring me my starter kit. Yesterday I made my 834th card, so I guess you can say, it’s working out for me! Yes, I number them. I don’t really know why except as a mathematician, I like data that has to do with numbers.
So, to celebrate my Happy Anniversary and to hopefully make it happy for someone else, I’m offering some blog candy. Although I’ve made 834 cards, I haven’t sent anywhere near that many (although I’m doing better than last year) so I’m offering a dozen of my handmade cards. All you have to do is to comment on this post before Saturday 4th and to tell me why you like creating cards.
Here’s a photo of the blog candy. I’ve packaged cards like this before, click here to see the details.
Finally, welcome to my new email subscriber, I greatly appreciate that you like my blog enough to want my posts in your inbox. Feel free to add a comment and introduce yourself.
I hope that everyone is having a great Memorial Day or Bank Holiday Monday.
See you tomorrow,
Liz
Congrats! I have been making cards for over 20 years. I get so much pleasure out of making a card and giving it to someone. People are so appreciative to receive them.
Isn’t that the truth? And new people look at you in astonishment and say “YOU made this”??? It makes me happy too.
I LOVE creating cards and working on stamping projects. It is so much FUN to do especially when you are doing it with other friends who enjoys it as much as you do. I also love seeing other people expression when they receive the card or project that I made especially for them.
Agreed Crissy – creating is so much more fun that it ought to be!
Congratulations on your card win, Liz! It was one of my favorites of your PP alternatives. I like creating cards because it takes me “away”… I lose track of time, I love what I am doing, and the act of creating is such a joy! A friend asked once how much time it takes me to create a card and I realized that oftentimes I have no idea, and really the time taken isn’t the point. I think a better question is “how much happiness is in the creation of this card?”
I like your improved question Ann – far better. 🙂
Congratulations! Thanks for the chance to win too.
My love of making cards is due to my mum introducing me to the craft many many years ago. I loved being creative and trying new crafts and I fell in love with stamping. We shared the hobby and passion for making cards for many years and enjoyed visiting craft shops around the UK for trips out, new supplies and general fun. In 2008 my mum suddenly died and I then used card making as a way of coping with my loss and making new friends around the world as I started blogging too. In 2012 I started Uniko and it is all down to my mum 🙂
Sorry I babbled on! Hugs Bev x
I don’t think it’s babbling Bev, it was good information. I’m so glad that you and your mother shared a love of the hobby and that you have good memories from that. I’m also glad that it helped comfort you at your time of loss. Liz x
I love to create and I love paper, especially different colors and patterns. When I am making a card I am totally involved in what I am doing. I don’t think about work, worries, or housework. I forget all of that and totally relax. Then I get to give the card away and give someone else a little joy!
Anything that can make us forget worries, work and housework is awesome! Thanks for commenting – it’s really interesting to read the different reasons why people create.
