Colour really is amazing; I had a card class last night and we were playing with the Hey Chick stamp set and the watercolor pencils and my friends decided to change up the colours since we were making two of the same design cards. My original chick was coloured with daffodil delight, pumpkin pie and bermuda bay but after Tara had used the calypso coral pencil on one of her cards, I decided to follow suit and change colours on my second card. This led to some hasty cutting out of new background pieces but we ended up with lots of color ways. Here I used real red, calypso coral, pumpkin pie and daffodil delight. The design is still the same as the original, but the dry embossed piece is now calypso coral. The chicken also looked great on Steph’s card with daffodil delight, pumpkin pie and pacific point with a pacific point background – I neglected to get a photo of that. But play around and change up the colours.
Here’s the original – isn’t it amazing what a change in colour will do?
We also played with Beautiful You and made two similar cards, changing sentiments and colours. We also stepped up the second why by doing a little paper piecing using the subtles DSP stack. Here are my two examples. Again, the colour really changes the mood doesn’t it – here we have sweet sugarplum and so saffron. Which do you like best?
