Love Notes Framelits Dies

I’ve been looking at some of the new product that arrived about a week ago and I’ve been wanting to play with it but long work hours have made it difficult. So I’m happy that I found some time today and I set out to use the new Sending Love suite which we played with at the Onstage Local back in November. Then we made some little cute 3 inch cards, but this time I wanted to use the Love Notes Framelits Dies on a full sized card. I intended to use the DSP too, but somehow that didn’t happen.

I took my colour scheme from the make and takes from Onstage – real red and emerald envy. I started by cutting out the envelope – easy with the dies – out of the sending love glassine sheets. Not only is it cut out, the die does the scoring for you. Just a little dab of snail on the bottom flap and the envelope was made. The sentiment actually comes from Suite Sentiments, a stamp set full of sentiments (!) which are designed to coordinate with other products in the Occasions catalog. So I stamped that first and then cut out my insert for the envelope. Luckily the Sealed with Love stamp set is a photopolymer so it was easy to line up my line of hearts. The heart is also cut out with the Love Notes Framelits Dies. For some reason, I overlooked the real red 3/8″ stitched satin ribbon in the annual catalog and only just received it. It’s fabulous in real red.

I guess I should start dinner before playing some more…

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Sealed with Love for a sneak peek

As you know I went to the Onstage Local event in Secaucus at the weekend and of course we got to play with new product from the next catalogue. I wanted to share the Make and Takes we did using the Sealed with Love stamp set and matching framelits, Love Notes Framelits dies. The cards also feature the new Sending Love DSP stack, Sending Love embelllishments, Sending Love Glassine Sheets as well as emerald envy baker’s twine.

Aren’t they adorable? They are 3 inches by 3 inches and the base is a sheet of the Sending Love DSP stack cut in half. In fact, in our Supplies box on the table at the event, we had the entire stack sliced in half. This meant we could all choose our card bases.

The cards at the left and right are fairly self explanatory and just feature the stamp set and matching framelits with some embellishments. The middle one is amazing – we used the framelits to cut out an envelope shape out of the Sending Love glassine sheets and then stuck it together with a mini glue dot. The insert is also cut using the framelits and the matching stamp set, Sealed With Love has a matching stamp that matched the top of the insert. Of course, it would have been easier if I’d stamped first and then cut but this worked pretty well.

I love the real red and emerald envy together – I need to make some more Christmas cards featuring those colours.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Paper Pumpkin January 2016 Alternate 2

Here’s the last Valentine’s card for this year. I meant to post it yesterday of course but I’ve spent the last two days elevating my ankle as often as possible. It aches if I sit in a chair – presumably two days in the office in a row were a bit too much. It’s lucky that I can work from home.

Stampin' Up! Acorny Thank You and January 2016 Paper Pumpkin

I made this during my melon mambo phase at the crop and it was liked so much that I had to make a spare one for a fellow cropper. It’s a pretty good feeling when someone really wants one of your cards. It was also a pretty good feeling when Acorny Thank You made it to the list of continuing sets and I wanted to combine it with the Paper Pumpkin January 2016 set, Cute Conversations, to make a Valentine’s card. I carefully used the acorn builder punch to cut out an acorn as far away from the edge as possible. Then I stamped the dotty acorn hat and the sentiment and cut out both of these with the punch. I then layered the whisper white piece over a square of melon mambo cardstock, popping it up on dimensionals. The dotty hat was then added through the hole to ensure that I got it in the right place. The right hand acorn was then carefully glued only on one side and then added. I figured out the placement and then stamped the XOXO which comes from the January 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit. Then, after that was safely stamped, I glued down the square of melon mambo.

I lined the envelope with the envelope liners framelits and the retired backgrounds DSP from the brights collection.

Today’s the last day that you can be guaranteed to be able to get the three limited time freebies from the Sale-a-bration catalogue and it marks half way through what is the best sale of the year! It’s also half way through your opportunity to join Stampin’ Up! and get $155 worth of product for $99 with free shipping. There’s no risk because if you like, that can be the last time you ever buy anything. That’s a lot of free product…

See you tomorrow,

Watercolor Words with a Happy Heart

This card starts off exactly the same as yesterday. I wanted to take the very quick, clean and simple card and take it up a notch whilst still keeping it clean and simple.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Words and Happy Heart TIEF

After stamping the elements from Watercolor Words in real red on whisper white card stock, I trimmed the excess white space quite severely. I’d had a piece of real red embossed with hearts using the Happy Heart TIEF on my desk for a few days and it was definitely the inspiration for this card. Of course that piece of real red didn’t work here, so the original inspiration piece is still there. Waiting!

After I’d embossed a fresh piece of real red, I put it right in the centre of the thick whisper white card base. I tend to use the thick whisper white for bases and the ordinary for everything else. I then realised that I needed a thin real red border around my main focus. Once I’d added that I popped up the matted sentiment with dimensional and positioned it on the card. Not in the centre, that was just too predictable, but slightly more to the right. In my opinion, it brings it to life. I again added the dry embossing to the envelope flap, as I did yesterday.

So, here are the two side by side. Which do you prefer?

Watercolor Words for a quick Valentine’s Card

When I was creating the card for my 400th post on Tuesday, I also made this one. It’s clean and simple in the extreme but I love how effective it is. And yet again, it underlines my surprise that Watercolor Words wasn’t on my first shipment from Stampin’ Up!’s current annual catalogue.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Words

As long as you don’t manage to get red ink on your fingers and add a fingerprint smear, it’s a very quick card. For some reason, I find that the red ink has more affinity for my fingers than any other colour! It’s just a quick stamp of the sentiment in real red on whisper white card stock and then a couple of hearts in the same colour. Glue this to a real red card base and you’re done. I did of course play with the envelope as well.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Words and Happy Hearts TIEF

I dry embosssed it using the Happy Heart TIEF. Because of the way that the folder is created, you easily can have the hearts the right way up, but you can only have 6 hearts in width. I rather like the border around the hearts even though there’s no avoiding it!

As I reminded you, on Tuesday was my 400th blog post and I had some blog candy to celebrate. The closing date for comments was midnight last night.

Stampin' Up! Lotus Blossom and Heappy Heart TIEF and Jewels basic rhinestone and sequin trim

Using a random number generator, I got that #3, Nicole Garabrant won the candy. She said:

“400th post, you go girl! This card is gorgeous and perfect for Valentine’s day. Thanks so much for a chance to win the blog candy! :)”

Contact me to give my your address Nicole, and I’ll get it sent to you pronto.

As for Sandra and D’Ann – contact me as well with a US address and I’ll send you a little thank you of a few of my cards for taking part in my celebration.

It’s a very short list of supplies to make this card today – and even shorter is you just use a plain envelope, or just stamp on it.

If Watercolour words didn’t make it to your wish list, I hope that today’s post has changed your mind! If not, stop by tomorrow for a variation on today’s card. Actually, stop by anyway!

See you tomorrow,

Liz
