So Detailed Thinlits Dies

Following the success of the detailed floral thinlits dies, Stampin’ Up! have brought out the So Detailed Thinlits Dies and they let us play with them at Onstage! Here the make and take was assembling a card with a belly band made of a delicate detailed piece cut using the dies and the coordinating stamp set So in Love  and the Falling in Love DSP. I was lucky enough to get the stamp set for free and the So Detailed Thinlits Dies and DSP are winging their way across the country to me at the moment and should arrive tomorrow. Can’t wait!

We used a pool party base and used the same ink to add a few flowers to the DSP before gluing it down to the base. The belly band was made out of a die cut piece of very vanilla and another piece which we carefully glued together loosely so that it would slide on and off. The sentiment is in crumb cake and this make and take also features the rather lush Very Vanilla satin ribbon (which I picked out of the box of supplies as it was passed round and round the table for us to share out the goodies) and the Falling in Love embellishments.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Inside the Lines DSP

Here’s a sneak peek from the upcoming Occasions catalog – it’s another make and take that we made at Onstage Local last weekend using the Inside the Lines DSP. It was loads of fun – want to come to the next one? Just join my team and get ready for some fun. It’s as simple as that!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Inside the Lines DSP - Dragonfly Dreams

I’m really excited about this card and the products that we used. The Inside the Lines DSP is one of the products that you can only get for free! During Sale-a-bration (January 4 – March 31), you get to pick a free product from the SAB catalogue for each $50 that you spend before tax and shipping. This paper is a 12 pack of 12″ by 12″ paper, 3 each of 4 designs that is printed in black and white and ready for colouring.

The pack that we were given for this card contained the three pieces of DSP already cut to size and we just coloured one of the pieces. With the new watercolour pencils – we have 13 of these in Stampin’ Up! colours. Once you’ve coloured the image, you can use a blender pen or aquapainter to blend colours and smooth lines. It’s really fun and I can’t wait to be able to order my own set. We used calypso coral, daffodil delight and old olive on this card. We also used the Dragonfly Dreams set for the sentiments – stamped in calypso coral on the same colour card base and in basic black for the thanks banner. The black baker’s twine is a new product too. So that’s four new products on this card – the Inside the Lines DSP, the watercolor pencils, the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and the twine.

Lovely As A Tree

This cards a bit of an experiment – I was, of course, still playing with my Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies last night when I wondered whether I could have something poking out of the stitched shape. I decided on the elegant tree from Lovely As A Tree for my experiment.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Lovely As A Tree - Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies - Merriest Wishes

I first stamped it on the very vanilla layer and then again on a scrap which I cropped with the largest of the square Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. Then I carefully lined up the image and glued the die cut layer on the top of the tree stamped on the card layer. Only then did I stamp my greeting – happily flawlessly, but that was definitely taking a risk! I then put the layer onto a cherry cobbler card base to match the greeting. I am really glad that these dies came in time for me to take them to the 3 day crop that I’m going to tomorrow – look for lots more samples showing them next week.

Blooms and Bliss DSP

Happy Wednesday – my days are all confused after the day off for Labor Day on Monday! Here’s a quick card that is easy to replicate and uses such a minimal amount of DSP that you could get 144 cards out of a single DSP pack. In this case, I’m using the Blooms and Bliss DSP – one of my favourite packs of DSP ever.

Blooms and Bliss DSP and endless birthday wishes

I started by using a 2 inch by 5.5 inch strip and then decided it was too wide and hacked off a bit – about a quarter of an inch. I’d cut my strip of island indigo to be 1/8 inch wider so I just put the DSP with the cardstock, got the edges the same and sliced away. This meant no measuring and only one cut and I still had my 1/16 inch border at the edges. Next I stamped the greeting which is from Endless Birthday Wishes in island indigo onto the thick white cardstock before constructing the rest of the card.

If I’d actually designed this card to use 1 3/4 inch of DSP and cut it that way to start with, I’d end up with 144 cards like this one and then I could make another 24 where the strip was just 1.5 inches wide which would work well too although would probably need a wider cardstock border. So there you go – 168 cards from one pack of DSP!

Don’t forget that it’s the last day of the Special Deals that I’ve been mentioning this week. Tomorrow we get a new set.

See you tomorrow,

Liz

Blog Candy Winner

On my blog’s birthday, I offered some blog candy and today’s the day to announce the winner! Here’s a reminder of the blog candy:

Stampin' Up! products for blog candy

and the winner is, unlucky for some, number 13 which is Debbie who said:

“Happy birthday! Mine is a bit odd too, it’s Christmas Day. Love your posts and ideas.”

Well, Happy Birthday a little early to you Debbie! Just email me your address at lizbaileycards@gmail.com and I’ll be happy to send this along.

To help ease any disappointment for those of you that didn’t win, I’ll remind you of the special deals that Stampin’ Up! has going on currently:

Special Offer

This one is good through Wednesday 7th and if you were at all reluctant to get ALL of the sets of enamel shapes, now is the time to stock up because they are discounted. And if you have them all, why not get more! Here’s a look at what’s on sale this week:

Week 1

I just got the mini striped ribbon in tip top taupe (and Debbie will be receiving a yard from me in her blog candy) and it’s really gorgeous. The photos just don’t do it justice. The festive embossing folder is really fun too – I’ve even used it on the envelope flaps and it’s great there too. I have the blossom builder punch – I think I’ll go and play with it this morning to give you a reason for buying it!

See you tomorrow,

Liz
