Paper Pumpkin December 2016

It’s that time of the month again – my Paper Pumpkin is about to arrive. And today in my inbox, I got notification that the Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin video has been posted. This one is an exciting kit, Another Great Year, containing a rotary stamp, a stampin’ write basic black marker and all the product needed to help you do a year’s memory keeping. I’m not sure yet whether I’ll finally have a go at memory keeping (and if so whether it’s this year or next year) or whether I’ll use the supplies to make cards. It’s a tough choice!

Paper Pumpkin Gift Idea

We’re approaching the 10th of the month which is the important Paper Pumpkin Day. If you’re signed up by the 10th, you get this month’s kit; if you miss the deadline, you get next month’s. The reason I’m mentioning it now is I’m betting that there are a few people on your list that you’re struggling with. Paper Pumpkin can help with some of these – how about a prepaid gift subscription (either for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months) which will be like them getting a gift each month until their subscription runs out. If you sign up with me, I’ll send you a card that you can use to present to your recipient announcing the gift as well as 5 hand made cards as a gift for you.

Totally Trees for Christmas

I mentioned that I’m sad that Totally Trees is retiring. It’s such a versatile set – it can make (and has) birthday cards, thank you cards and Christmas cards. I think I could make it into a Valentine’s one too. But today, Totally Trees is making a Christmas card.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Totally Trees - Wonderful Winterland - Paper Pumpkin - Paper Pumpkin November 2016 - Confetti Stars Punch

I stamped the basic tree in always artichoke and then coloured some of the splodges in cherry cobbler, always artichoke, daffodil delight and the gold wink of Stella. Next I cut it out with my current favourite, the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I love that the stitching adds a border that means you don’t need another mat. So easy.

I used the November Paper Pumpkin, Wonderful Winterland, for the sentiment which I stamped in cherry cobbler and then popped up the oval on dimensionals. The tree needed a little something and although I tried stamping a star using Totally Trees again and using the dazzling diamonds embossing powder, it wasn’t enough. I instead pulled out the retired confetti stars punch and punched out a gold foil star which worked perfectly.

Paper Pumpkin November 2016 Alternate 2

So here’s Paper Pumpkin November 2016 Alternate 2. And it’s using the die cut trees which were left over from my first alternate, so two cards with the supplies for one – how’s that for frugal?!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Paper Pumpkin November 2016 Alternate 2 - Wonderful Winterland

I was having an always artichoke day so that’s what I used for the trees. For the sky, I sponged blushing bride, marina mist and night of navy starting in the middle and working outwards in a circle. I then spritzed it with water to give a more dramatic effect and left it to dry. Next I cut out my oval with the largest of the stitched shapes framelits and used the sentiment from the Wonderful Winterland kit. This was when I realised that my sky piece needed cutting down to be slightly smaller than the front piece and with a small mat of night of navy behind it before adding to the thick whisper white card base, I can tell you that this is a sturdy card! I added a little oval border of dazzling diamonds glimmer paper – apparently I knew that it was going to snow today and that this would be completely apposite.

I used my Holly TIEF to decorate the envelope flap.
