Paper Pumpkin time

We’re almost out of time to sign up for this month’s paper pumpkin – the deadline is the 10th of the month. This month Stampin’ Up! has been giving clues about the kit – it’s a card kit, we’re going to love it and the clue words are “hole”, “round” and “scramble” (check out the Paper Pumpkin facebook page). I’m guessing it’s a card kit featuring golf which sounds fun and just in time for Father’s Day. I’ve been a bit distracted with retiring lists and Onstage! lately and haven’t been making up my kits and not sharing alternatives. I’ll get back to that soon working with the last couple of kits.

In case you don’t know what Paper Pumpkin is about, here are the details:

  • Each month you receive a unique, surprise kit with a project. It’s colour-coordinated and everything is pre-cut
  • Each kit includes stamps, ink, paper, accessories and instructions.
  • Each kit gives you about 30 minutes of fun
  • Your Paper Pumpkin ships around the 15th of the month.
  • You need to sign up for a kit by the 10th of the month to get that month’s kit. If you sign up on the 11th of the month, your first kit will come the next month.
  • A Paper Pumpkin subscription is just $19.95 per month (and shipping is included!) There’s no commitment, you can cancel or put your subscription on hold at any time. You can also prepay 1, 3, 6 or 12 months at a time (great gift idea) and save money with the latter 3 options.
  • Once you’re a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can buy previous kits as supplies last. Sometimes complete kits are available at other times, it’s just the consumables so that you can make more.

Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to get five FREE handmade cards; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is 7UYN7HEJ (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free cards). In addition, to celebrate the new catalog, if you spend $50 this month, I’ll send you either the clear or gold faceted gems FREE (let me know which you’d like). Paper Pumpkin April 2017

Well I admit that I’m a little frustrated today – my Paper Pumpkin April 2017 box is still in the status of the post office has heard about it. Apparently they heard about it three days ago and nothing’s happened since. This morning I watched the Stampin’ Up! video announcing the kit and since this kit is called A Sara Thing because Sara designed it, she was the one presenting it in the video. It’s a really cool kit – fun colours, a free gift of 4 watercolor pencils and some emboss resist techniques. And you all know how much I’ve been enjoying that technique lately! I’m hoping for your sake that if you didn’t get this kit that they release more of the kit and not just the refills. Which reminds me – I bought a 12 month subscription during Sale-a-bration (and scored 4 freebies for doing that!), I think my last subscription is about run out, so I need to put in the code to use my new subscription. Anyway, enough chatter – here’s the video:

It looks like loads of fun – and it makes 12 cards which is incredible value since a subscription is only $19.95 plus tax.

Whilst it’s not guaranteed that you can get your hands on this kit, if you sign up for Paper Pumpkin by May 10, you’ll get next month’s and a chance to buy previous paper pumpkin kits where available: click here

Paper Pumpkin February 2017 Alternative 2

I’ve had this card in my head for a week or so but just couldn’t quite finalise it to get to my Paper Pumpkin February 2017 Alternative 2. The “ornament” is actually the candle flame from the kit and thus I’ve actually made a Christmas card in March! I liked the ornament on cherry cobbler but wanted my sentiment in ink rather than heat embossing because the gold embossing powder doesn’t match the ornament. Hence this layout was created.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Paper Pumpkin February 2017 Alternative 2 - Many Happy Birthdays - Embellished Ornaments

The gold thread is held onto the ornament with a glue dot and then wrapped under the cherry cobbler piece and secured there. There’s a slight bump where it goes under the cherry cobbler, but it’s minor. I then popped the ornament up with dimensionals and added a bow with another glue dot. Before constructing the card, I stamped my sentiment from Embellished Ornaments because the extra layer would have messed up the stamp-a-ma-jig – and of course, it’s better to do the sentiment early so that you can flip the cardstock over if necessary!

I glued the cherry cobbler piece to my very vanilla layer, standing them up on my desk so that I could be certain that they were lined up properly. Then I added this to a cherry cobbler card base.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to get a selection of ribbon and sequins (6 yards in all) when your order is $30 or more; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is 34ANVEHC (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get the free gift). Paper Pumpkin February 2017 Alternative

Here’s my first Paper Pumpkin February 2017 Alternative, the Many Happy Birthdays kit. Lately my Paper Pumpkin seems to take quite a while to get to me – eight days this time. Hence the delay in the alternative cards.

Paper Pumpkin February 2017 Alternative - Many Happy Birthdays - Blossom Bunch punch - Triple Banner punch

I used various circle punches, 2, 1 1/2 and 1 inches,  to punch out circles from one of the cards (I’ve still got enough to make 2 more cards like this one from the one card) and also a scrap of flirty flamingo. Next I created my banner, using the triple banner punch and a scrap of whisper white. I used the included stamp set in the Paper Pumpkin for the sentiment, leaving a space on the left hand side. I somehow managed to add a smudge of ink on the left hand side of the banner, but seeing as the space was designed for the blossom bunch punch flower, it didn’t matter a bit! I pushed the back of my paper piercer into the centre of the flowers to make the flower more 3D and then glued the 2 pieces together with glue dots.

I also added a scrap circle to the back of my largest circle so that it would be level since I was putting one side of it over another. The smallest circle is popped up with dimensionals. A scattering of three rhinestones finishes off the card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to enter the raffle for a chance to win your very own Bookcase Builder stamp set for free; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is Y3JVQ4Q7 (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get an entry into the raffle).
