Paper Pumpkin March 2016 Alternate 2

Here’s my Paper Pumpkin March 2016 alternate 2. Since yesterday I used one of the squares that is designed to go on one of the cards, I had a few banners left over. So I decided to use them on today’s card.

The pool party circle is a sticker from the kit but it’s actually the outside of the sticker left after removing the “intentional” sticker. I cut it out with my 1.25″ punch and cut the same size of whisper white. I then stamped on it with the grad hat from the Paper Pumpkin Pocketful of Cheer stamp set in Bermuda Bay and stuck the pool party ring around the edge. Next I punched out a bermuda bay circle using the 1.75″ punch and stuck the two leftover banners to that. At this point, I decided to stamp the sentiment before sticking anything to the whisper white layer. It’s stamped in bermuda bay again and after that was successful I glued on the circle and banners. I glued this whisper white piece to a bermuda bay card base. I find that it’s easiest to glue the card together before adding anything popped up with dimensionals – as my hat was.

After so much disuse, bermuda bay has leapt into the spotlight! I’ll have to try another neglected colour soon!

Paper Pumpkin March 2016 Alternate

So here’s my first Paper Pumpkin March 2016 alternate idea. I decided that I didn’t need to make all the special envelopes to hold the gift card holders (they could go inside the card) and I could repurpose the DSP that was the inside of the envelope. I cut the flaps off the envelope and cut down the DSP so that I could add a skinny mat of pool party and then add this to a card base of bermuda bay. I know that I said yesterday that I as planning on using more bermuda bay soon, but I didn’t expect to do it quite so quickly! I guess the Pocketful of Cheer kit this month has inspired me or at least playing with the Paper Pumpkin kit means that the bermuda bay ink and cardstock are out on my table.

I used one of the precut squares from the kit and stamped the sentiment and the balloon separately. This was so that I could get them close enough together. One tip though – I laid the balloon stamp onto the card and then held the sentiment over so that I could get the location of the sentiment right. I realised that if I didn’t do that, I’d stamp the sentiment in the middle which wouldn’t be right after adding the balloon. I popped the square up with dimensionals and put it towards the bottom so that more of the uninterrupted DSP was showing.

Since I’d used the envelope as my DSP, I used an ordinary whisper white envelope and jazzed it up with a bermuda bay envelope liner.

Paper Pumpkin March 2016

According to the tracking information, my Paper Pumpkin March 2016 – Pocketful of Cheer – will be delivered today! I couldn’t resist though, and took a look at the youtube video giving a sneak peek.

I later saw on FaceBook that this was Shannon West’s first Paper Pumpkin video and actually there was a bit of a hint because she also stamped her #ImBringingBirthdayBack on one of the cards. Very cool.

This is Paper Pumpkin’s third birthday and apparently also the millionth kit was shipped out this month. Here’s Sara, the interim CEO, with a video on that.

As you heard, there’s going to be a bonus gift of a stamp set in the box, and according to the write-up under the video, it’s a $17 value which makes signing up for the April kit a no brainer at $19.95. If you sign up and name me as your demonstrator, I’ll send you a gift from me too.

In case you’re not familiar with Paper Pumpkin, here are the details:

  • Each month you receive a unique, surprise kit with a project. It’s colour-coordinated and everything is pre-cut
  • Each kit includes stamps, ink, paper, accessories and instructions – everything but adhesive.
  • Each kit gives you about 30 minutes of fun
  • Your Paper Pumpkin ships around the 15th of the month.
  • You need to sign up for a kit by the 10th of the month to get that month’s kit. If you sign up on the 11th of the month, your first kit will come the next month.
  • A Paper Pumpkin membership is $19.95 per month (and shipping is included!) There’s no commitment, you can cancel or put your subscription on hold at any time.
  • Just click on the Paper Pumpkin button on the left hand side to join up.

Also until the end of the month, a three month prepaid subscription is only $55 and that gets you a freebie from Sale-a-bration as well as the bonus stamp set next month.

I’m going to work on my taxes now so that when my kit comes, I can start playing!

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin February 2016 Alternate 8

I think this is a record – here is Paper Pumpkin February 2016 Alternate EIGHT! After reading my usual blogs this morning, which includes Brian King’s, I decided to make a card for the same challenge that he mentioned – Fab Friday and to also add the extra challenge he undertook – use the soft pastels without making a baby card! My Paper Pumpkin February 2016 set was still out on my table and, inspired by Brian, decided to make my own background.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin February 2016 Hello Sunshine

Here’s the banner for the challenge

Using just the one stamp from the Hello Sunshine set, I stamped randomly in the three colours, filling the space but with not too much overlapping. I wanted the image to show, not just create texture. Once I’d completely filled my piece of very vanilla I tried it on all three card bases and mint macaron won. I was just about to stamp the happy birthday in mint macaron too but it was just a bit too predictable and I also remembered that I have enamel dots in mint macaron. So I changed the colour of the sentiment (also from the Paper Pumpkin kit) to use blushing bride and added three of the enamel dots.I then popped up the sentiment with dimensionals.

Of course I have to do something to the envelope, and rather than cutting out an envelope liner, I decided to stamp the flap of the envelope in the same way as the background.

As with the card background, I stamped off once before stamping onto the envelope flap.

I’m most definitely not short of DSP but it is fun to make your own backgrounds. There are masses of stamps that you could do this kind of thing with if you didn’t get the Paper Pumpkin kit last month.

It’s only 5 days until this month’s cut off for Paper Pumpkin. If you’re signed up by the 10th, you’ll get the March kit, if you sign up after that, you have to wait until April. And since the 3 month prepaid is on sale – and gets you a freebie from the Sale-a-bration brochure, why wait?

Have a great Saturday!

See you tomorrow,

Paper Pumpkin February 2016 Alternate 7

The Paper Pumpkin February 2016 is really spawning a lot of cards for me. I’m having so much fun playing with the kit – and I’ve been saving the actual kit itself to play with my friends in a couple of days. And even so, I’ve made a lot of cards with it. Here’s a card using one of the spare embellishments and a few of the extra leaves.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Hello Sunshine

I put the embellishment on very vanilla and added a few of the leaves to the card. I then stamped the sentiment (from the same kit’s stamp set) in pear pizzazz. Next I had to wait several days for the pearl embellishments to arrive! They turned up with the new Sale-a-bration items on Wednesday night. It’s amazing how exciting it is to get a box from Stampin’ Up! When my pearls arrived I added three of the biggest to the flower and then glued this to a pear pizzazz base. The envelope is unusual – I finally managed to put glue on the side of all the words and actually display the larger dots. The designer series paper stacks are incredibly useful for envelope lining as well as for using on cards.
