Sweet Cupcake Glimmer Paper

I was playing with the glimmer paper at the weekend and figured it would work really well as a cupcake paper. So I had a go with the Sweet Cupcake set and the matching Cupcake Cutouts Framelits Dies.

I used just sweet sugarplum for the cupcake which is made up of three separate stamps. The least detailed was stamped off twice, the next one was stamped off once and the most detailed was full strength sweet sugarplum. I cut that out with the Cupcake Cutouts framelits dies and also cropped a piece of the glimmer paper for the base and the sweet sentiment.

For the construction, I used a sponge dauber on the silicone craft mat to get glue on the back of the sentiment without getting too much. The top of the cupcake is glued to the whisper white layer with the gorgeous glimmer paper liner popped up with dimensionals. I added all of this to a sweet sugarplum base and that was it. Easy peasy.

Don’t forget that you can only earn the glimmer paper freebie through the end of this month.

Avant Garden

Today I’m sharing a card made with one of the Sale-a-bration sets, Avant Garden. I really love this set and it was one of the first free products that I ordered in January but for some reason it didn’t get inked up until this past weekend.

I took inspiration from Eimear, my sister’s upline in the UK – she posted a video earlier this week and I really loved how a dab of a sponge dauber in the middle of the flower looked so beautiful. I had to have a go myself. If you want to check out Eimear’s video (which includes showing how to extend the stitched shapes square framelit into a rectangle so I really recommend you do view it) click here.

I’ve got a bit of a sweet sugarplum thing going at the moment, so decided to use that for my flowers with a little dab of perfect plum into the centre of the stamp before I stamped onto the whisper white card. Incidentally, I found it easier from a placement perspective to do the stalks (pear pizzazz) first and then the flowers. The sentiment is also from Avant Garden and is in perfect plum as are the stamens. I need to play with some other colour combinations too.

I really like the sponge dauber effect – here’s a close up. The whole thing really looks like a watercolor painting! I cannot imagine why this set sat uninked for so long.

Celebrations Duo TIEF

As long as I got this right, this is the first post to be published to my new Facebook page, My Elegant Cards so a big celebrate seemed in order by way of the Celebrations Duo TIEF. If you’re reading this on Facebook, welcome to my new page.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator -Celebrations Duo TIEF - Totally Trees

I read on Facebook yesterday that answer to an issue I’d been having with the Celebrations Duo TIEF – the paper kept cracking after I dry embossed it. The secret is apparently to use the thick whisper white cardstock rather than the regular. I tried it and yes, it works perfectly. I then took a round stamp (mine came from Totally Trees but there are many that would work) and added circles of soft sky, mint macaron and island indigo. A quick trim  to give more interest by not having completed circles all over the piece and then a mat of island indigo before adding it to a soft sky card stock. The final touch – a bow using the mint macaron linen ribbon attached with a glue dot.

To celebrate the creation of the My Elegant Cards page, I’m going to “do a Shannon” (West). She started the #ImBringingBirthdaysBack movement last year and sent a birthday card to anyone who asked for one. So, if you’d like a card sent around your birthday, leave me a message either here or over on my new page with your birthday and send me an email with your address at lizbaileycards@gmail.com.

Reverse Words the other

As I mentioned yesterday, one of the new Sale-a-bration releases is Reverse Words and it contains two big stamps. Yesterday I showcased Hooray, today I’m sharing cheers. I happened upon a live video by Alisa Tilsner yesterday showcasing a way to make a watercolored background using a zip lock bag and heat embossing and it solidified in my mind what I wanted to do with the Reverse Words. I’d been inspired by one of the sample in the SAB brochure which used sponge daubers to colour the stamp in yellows and oranges but was leaning towards heat embossing too so I combined the two.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Reverse Words

I started by heat embossing the image from Reverse Words onto watercolor paper with white embossing powder. Then, mostly because I’m out of zip lock bags, at least upstairs in the kitchen, I used a piece of cling film or saran wrap. I used my aquapainter to get half of the paper really wet and tapped my so saffron stamp pad onto the cling film. I then smooshed the colour onto the card, pushing it around with the wrap. Next I did the same thing with peekaboo peach. Lots of fun and I can see doing more cards using this technique. Add more water with your aquapainter to get the effects you want.

I matted the watercolour paper with a piece of peekaboo piece, attaching it with fast fuse to ensure that it was really flat and then put it onto a so saffron card base. A few peekaboo peach enamel shapes pulled it all together.

Beautiful You classic

When I first saw Beautiful You, I knew I was buying the stamp set. And I also could envision the stylish lady in a real red dress. This is actually the first card I made with this set and it’s also the one that I duplicated as the top of a box that I made to house 8 cards.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Beautiful You

It’s another quick and easy card stamped on watercolor paper in archival basic black. But after I’d done that, I decided that rather than watercolor, I’d add the watercolor like swoosh for her dress. Just a quick stamp in real red and the card was complete! I added a basic black border and put that onto a real red card base. It’s a wonderful set to create a set of cards and then a quick box and you’ve got a great gift.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project – it’s the last day to enter the raffle! Please use the Stampin’ Rewards code to enter the raffle for a chance to win your very own Bookcase Builder stamp set for free; the current Stampin’ Rewards code is Y3JVQ4Q7 (if your order is over $150, don’t use the code, you get the rewards, but you still get an entry into the raffle).
