Happiest of Days

Here’s a card that we made recently in a class using Happiest of Days. It’s a very fun sketch set that could be used for weddings or birthdays.

We stamped the presents (all one image) in archival basic black and then the sentiment in lemon lime twist. Looking back over the month, it’s starting to look as if this may be my favourite colour which is amusing since this was the one that I was only planning to use for pops of colour! The presents are coloured in using the new tranquil tide and lemon lime twist markers taking care not to have the stripes and spots all symmetrical – I think it looks better that way.

To pull the card together, I used a very skinny mat of tranquil tide and layered that on a lemon lime twist card base leaving a nice deep border. I’m enjoying experimenting with different sized borders; it completely changes the look of the card.

Birthday Friends Framelits Dies

Here’s an unusual set of dies, the Birthday Friends Framelits Dies. They actually cut out images from the coordinating designer series paper – how cool is that?

There’s also a coordinating stamp set of course and we played with the entire suite at Onstage Live in Amsterdam. Here’s the sample that Mikaela Titheridge had designed for us using all three parts of the bundle. Because unusually, you can get the paper, stamp set and framelits in one bundle saving over 10% on the price.

The happy fox and the banner were both cut out of the paper using the Birthday Friends Framelits Dies and we did a little stamping in the background. There’s more of the paper behind the banner – I think the stripey paper is my favourite in this set of designer series papers. It’s SO bright and cheerful.

Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies

Here’s the fourth card in my series featuring each of the in colors and the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies as well as being based on the same layout. This one shows off Powder Pink accented by copper.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies - Bunch of Blossoms - Layering Circles framelits dies

Here I cut down my top layer to be 3 1/4 by 4 1/2 inches – leaving a half an inch border all the way around as with all the previous cards although some had just a scored line to mark the border – and used the die to cut out the flower. Once I’d determined that the copper foil was perfect for the peek through, I used a piece large enough to add a border of copper foil. The sentiment is from the carrying over set, Bunch of Blossoms and I embossed it in copper and then used the layering circles framelits dies to cut it out. For an extra pop, I also used the layering dies to cut out a scalloped piece of copper foil.

Don’t forget that there are only FIVE more days to get products out of the 2016-2017 catalog, many of them at a reduced price. The Eastern Palace special bundles with their free gifts are only available through the end of the month too.

Love Sparkles

I think I’ve only used two sentiments from the retiring set Love Sparkles, but I’ve used them a lot! The big sparkly Celebrate is perfect for the front, or indeed the inside, of a celebratory card. And it pairs beautifully with the gorgeous Fruit Stand DSP.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Love Sparkles - Fruit Stand DSP

Here I’ve put a leftover piece of the DSP onto a pumpkin pie base. Actually pumpkin pie isn’t one of the colours noted as being in this paper – the official oranges are peekaboo peach and tangerine tango but due to the watercolour nature of the paper, pumpkin pie is actually a better match. I wouldn’t have dreamed of going outside the lines and picking a different colour three years ago, but since I’ve been carding, I’ve become more comfortable in my colour choices. And pumpkin pie works.

I like the thin border around the paper and then the plainness of the card base with the fun banner straddling the two. I’ve used pumpkin pie for my Love Sparkles greeting and popped it up on dimensionals. And of course the triple banner punch to make the banner.

Eastern Palace Specialty DSP again

Here’s another piece of the Eastern Specialty DSP but a completely different colorway. This one is pairing Fresh Fig with the Tranquil Tide instead of Lemon Lime Twist. It’s a fairly lively print which gave me a few issues as I tried to pair it with the new Eastern Medallions Thinlits dies, but everything I tried came out too busy. So this one just has a simple banner.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Eastern Specialty DSP - Endless Birthday Wishes

The card base is very vanilla (another reason to love the Eastern Specialty DSP) with a deep border of Fresh Fig before a piece of the pretty DSP. I then took a piece of very vanilla scrap and stamped the sentiment from Endless Birthday Wishes (it’s going away, but guaranteed to be available until next Monday) in Fresh Fig. I think this may be the most used sentiment that I have in my collection! I had trimmed the scrap to be just under an inch wide so that it would easily slide into the triple banner punch. I cut a piece of fresh fig just over an inch wide and cut one end of the banner with the triple banner punch. At this point, I realised that I’d have to be really careful to accurately use the punch for the other end so I glued the two pieces together and used scissors to cut the flag in the fresh fig. It’s not as simple, but it’s safer! I popped this up with dimensionals.
