Happy Birthday Gorgeous

Today’s card is based on one that I received a couple of weeks ago and which inspired me to order the Pick a Pattern washi tape – you can see that post here. The white parts of the washi are slightly see through so an intense color like Berry Burst works well.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Happy Birthday Gorgeous - Better Together - Pick a Pattern Washi Tape

I cut my upper layer half an inch smaller than the card base so that I could wrap the ends of the washi under (I haven’t embraced the torn edges looks and doubt I ever will!) and then have a basic black mat to give a frame for the card. I then used the white craft ink which is lovely and juicy to stamp my greeting from Better Together and sprinkled on the white embossing powder.

I used the Stitched Shapes framelits dies to cut this out but decided that the card needed a little extra pop. The Happy Birthday Gorgeous set has some lovely balloons and a single one gave me just what I was looking for – and as a bonus the balloon bouquet punch cuts it out perfectly. I popped it up with a few dimensionals and the card was complete.

Embossing Paste

Okay, I know that I was planning to do a post highlighting each of the cards from the So Sayings kit (and I will) but I am so excited by this card, that I had to share it with you today. I was not sure that the embossing paste and I would get on and didn’t put it on my first order but I got some yesterday. And wow, is it fun?! AND easy to use.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Embossing Paste - Pattern Party Decorative Masks - Celebration Time - Celebration Thinlits Dies

I used one of the palette knives and put a little of the embossing paste onto a silicone craft mat and added a couple of drops of powder pink ink refill, adding a little more until I got the shade that I wanted. I mixed it well although I’m planning on making a card where it is NOT all perfectly mixed in, I think that will be fun too. I then used some post-it note tape to hold down one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks on top of my thick whisper white card base and just applied the paste on top, spreading it like butter. Having read the warnings, as soon as I was done applying the paste, I went to rinse off the mask, the silicone mat and the palette knife – and not a moment too soon. It really dries fast.

Another new purchase was the Celebration Time stamp set which I overlooked on my first time through the catalog. It’s awesome especially with the matching Celebration thinlits dies – here I’ve stamped the image in berry burst on powder pink and cut out the cake using the thinlits. There are some really fun shapes to cut out here. I’m almost giddy with excitement – there’s so much to play with that it’s hard to know what to do first – there are new tools and I love all the new in colors! I popped up the cake on dimensionals and then added some of the new berry burst glitter enamel dots.

I’m really pleased with how this turned out – isn’t the texture wonderful? And there are three more designs in the pattern party decorative mask set to play with…

Vertical Greetings

This card is actually the first card in my one sheet wonder challenge and not what I planned to share today. I was going to share all the Soft Sayings Card Kit but the UPS man brought me a Stampin’ Up! order and I need to play with it some more! So this is a shorter post. Tomorrow I’ll share the kit with close ups of each card and comments on tips that I found or changes that I made (probably). So today is a quick card showing how versatile Vertical Greetings is.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Vertical Greetings - Delightful Daisy DSP

I matted the piece of Delightful Daisy DSP with a piece of night of navy and then tied the crushed curry chevron ribbon around all of that, tying it in a knot. Then I stamped the greeting before gluing the focal point to the card – it’s too hard to use the stamp-a-ma-jig over the thickness of the mat and ribbon and I wanted to ensure that the sentiment was perfect first. I’m thinking that this design is going to work well with numerous other papers and ribbons.

Delightful Daisy DSP

Here’s another of my cards made with my single piece of 12 by 12 Delightful Daisy DSP – this one is just a little strip.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Delightful Daisy DSP - Bunch of Blossoms - Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies

Just a little strip of DSP, it may be, but doesn’t it make the card? I used multipurpose glue to fix this to the night of navy card base – a little wiggle room helped to ensure I had it lined up correctly. Then my favourite sentiment from Bunch of Blossoms also in night of navy and cut out with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. I added another oval behind of daffodil delight and the final touch was a bow using the new crushed curry 3/8 inch chevron ribbon.

Delightful Daisy DSP

You may have noticed that I’ve been sharing cards made with this piece of paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP collection recently. I’ve challenged myself to work through the entire sheet of 12 by 12 and see what I can make. Once I’ve completed it, I’ll share how I cut the paper for my one page wonder. At the current time, it’s not all cut!

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Delightful Daisy DSP - Bunch of Blossoms

I cut this piece of DSP into a rectangle and then randomly sliced through it, creating two similar pieces. I really love this paper on night of navy and used that as a card base. The sentiment is – do I even need to tell you seeing as I use it all the time?! – from Bunch of Blossoms stamped in matching night of navy and cut out with the stitched shapes framelits dies. The finishing touch is the new crushed curry 3/8 inch mini chevron ribbon.
