Final Amsterdam 3D swaps

Well all good things must come to an end, right? And today is the last of my Amsterdam 3D swaps, indeed the last of my swaps. I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing what I swapped my bee card for and have gained some inspiration.

First up is the beautiful brooch made by Ali Swann; this is special to me because I know Ali – she’s one of Eimear’s downline and I’ve been to a team meeting stamping with Ali.

She used the dragonfly dreams thinlits using glimmer paper and window sheets and made this gorgeous brooch.

Next is a cute little cat made by Rebecca Willmore which contains an adorable little cat scissor charm.

And finally, here’s the box which I (and all of her downline, adopted or not) received from Eimear. Inside was a nortex flannel which has some magic properties whereby you don’t need any body wash. It’s especially awesome for travelling! I think that the Hexagons Dynamic TIEF just jumped onto my wish list!

Gift Box Punch Board

Okay, here’s another product on the retiring list that you need to grab immediately – the gift box punch board. It’s even on sale and only $12 instead of $20. It’s also only available whilst supplies last and it’s scary how fast things are selling out. All of the retiring in-colors ink refills are gone already. So my advice to you is do it now! You can make all sorts of sized boxes easily.

Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack

As you read this, I’m at Onstage Live and we are all having a wonderful time spending time together, playing with new products and drooling over the upcoming catalogue. BUT the catalogue is not yet live and there are loads of great things in the current catalogues to play with. This is a little pillow gift that I whipped up for my sister on Tuesday evening using the Sending Love DSP stack.

It’s a pretty way to package up a couple of Ferraro Rocher chocolates and I’d been contemplating a way to do this for a week or so. I’m holding a Bingo! And Retiring Party event on April 28th and I thought it would be nice for everyone to get a little sweet surprise on their arrival. They are easy to make – I cut a piece of paper from the Sending Love DSP stack in half and then scored on the long side at 2 1/4″ and 3 3/4″, then I flipped the paper over to the other side and scored at half an inch from both ends. Then I burnished the score lines gently, put 2 chocolates in and the lovely shape just happened magically – due to the scoring on the other side. Then I punched a couple of holes with my 1/8″ punch and threaded the beautiful real red satin ribbon and tied a bow

Since this is just a little holder and doesn’t have sides, the chocolates can slide out. I fixed that with a glue dot under each wrapper – it would be sensible to put those there before tying the bow. But if you forget, you can turn it all upside down and poke a glue dot into position with a piercing tool. Yes, it works. I, er, tested that for you!

Window Box Thinlits Dies

I’m finally sharing the hexagonal box that I made with the Window Box Thinlits Dies – I started this a while ago but got sidetracked by the gorgeous piece that cuts out the top and made a card instead! And of course I couldn’t just make a plain box; I had to line it.

I cut out my box pieces twice in sweet sugarplum and then cut out the beautiful pattern on the top and the dots on all 6 sides. To line it, I used a piece of blushing bride and cut out the main box piece once. I then used my stampin’ trimmer to reduce the size of all edges, folded the score lines and ended up with a liner for half of the box. I then cut just three sides and cut that down too. Fast fuse was perfect for attaching the liner by putting the glue down the seams where there was no decoration. After I’d put the box together, I needed a few glue dots on the top to ensure everything was glued down properly. I didn’t add a bottom to the liner so there’s a nice contrast inside as well as on the outside. It’s a good size box – 2 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches across from side to side or 3 1/2 inches from point to point.

Beautiful You post-it note holders

Yesterday I shared the card that I sent out to all the people who came shopping with me last month and by now they should all have received their packets which also included this post-it note holder which I decorated using the Beautiful You stamp set. It has some lovely sentiments.

This also uses the retired Fancy Frost DSP. I don’t usually share retired products, but I didn’t think it through! At the time that I made these, the DSP wasn’t retired! So I measured my post-it notes (including the depth) adding an 1/8 inch to make it easier to open and scored appropriately. If I remember correctly they are 3 inch squares so the first score line was at 3 1/8 inch and then it’s 3 inch from the opposite edge. I then used sponge daubers to bring out the pattern using elegant eggplant or bermuda bay. The cover is only glued on the back but I found that the easiest way to get them lined up was to put the edge of the post-it notes with the glue into the middle portion, get that lined up and only then push down the cardstock with the fast fuse on it. The decoration uses Beautiful You onto cardstock the same colour as the ink heat embossed in gold and then cut out with the stitched shapes framelits dies. A double bow of (now retired also) twine attached with a rolled up glue dot finished them off perfectly. And here’s the reason behind my colour choices.
