I’m planning to make gifts for my team at work and they are likely to be edible. Hence I decided to make some tags for the gifts and I’m using the Candy Cane Christmas as inspired by the tags in the Holiday catalogue on page 4. I went to Onstage local yesterday and have seen the upcoming Occasions catalogue which will be live to customers on January 4th and it made me realise that I’d better get moving on using up my DSP! I came home and quickly put in my preorder (a perk of being a demonstrator and attending the event) so that I’ll be able to share a few sneak peeks with you soon. In fact, I’ll be making some samples in the next day or two with product that I received whilst at the event. It was a really fun day and I’m already planning to attend the next one.
This actually isn’t helping much with my DSP use; I cut a strip 2 1/2 inches wide and then cut that into 2 1/2″ squares so you get 4 per strip, and therefore 16 per sheet of DSP. Then I stamped my sentiment in real red or crumb cake onto whisper white and decorated with images from the Candy Cane Christmas in real red or garden green. Since I have a diverse team I wanted to stay away from actually saying “Christmas” and stuck with this saying on all of the tags. I used both sides so that there is even greater variety in the tags. I used the 2 inch punch to cut out the circle and put a little fuse onto the back at the top. This made it easy to anchor the thread which is from the baker’s twine trio pack and then I glued this onto the DSP square. Quick and easy and fun. And now they are made so I won’t be hurriedly making them whilst I’m baking in 6 weeks or so time! I’m getting unusually well organised!
I hope you enjoyed today’s project.
