Birthday Blossoms

I was looking for a challenge yesterday and found the sketch challenge at the PalsPaperArts. I’ve been getting more confident with sketches in the last few months and actually give them a go more often than not. I used to see a sketch and move on. Now I only do that if it’s too fussy for me.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Blossoms and Birthday Bouquet DSP and Botanical Garden Jewels

This card is probably a surprise – it’s a bit more embellished than usual. And there’s a reason for that! I’d finished the card but somehow managed to smear the front with a little mossy meadow on the front (probably due to not enough space since I hadn’t cleaned up my table lately) so I went looking for something to cover it up. The problem was under the leftmost botanical garden jewel (no, you haven’t missed them in the catalogue, they are coming out in the new occasions catalogue which launches on January 5) and it would look odd to just have a single one, so I went with three. I could have applied them with glue dots but I used the leftover adhesive dots from the December Paper Pumpkin which I shared yesterday.
Here’s the sketch which inspired the card

I decided to use another sneak peek as my three lines – this is the birthday bouquet DSP and it’s a beautiful collection. I cut a piece of the blushing bride and whisper white DSP the right size to get the three lines and then looked for a happy birthday sentiment which would fit in the appropriately sized oval. I love green with pink and mossy meadow is in the Birthday Bouquet DSP so it’s an easy pick. The sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms stamp set which was new in this year’s annual catalogue. I used the envelope liner framelits to crop a liner for the inside of my envelope. I love dressing up the envelopes!

See you tomorrow,

Liz
