Up and Away Thinlits Dies

One of my brother’s team, Gabe, is moving on. It’s been a hard year with too many projects with too tight deadlines. I don’t blame him. He joined a year ago so all he’s known here are death march projects (they’ve worked the last three weekends) and his new job is a 3 minute commute instead of 90. But we’re going to miss him. He joined just before I got my welcome stamp set so although I missed welcoming him with a card, I’ve got a good luck card for him to leave.

I can’t find a good luck sentiment so balloons seem appropriate. The new Up and Away thinlits dies along with the Lift Me Up stamp set seem perfect. And wow, are they fun?! The thinlits dies have five shapes that make up the colours behind the balloon. How fun is that? And there are smaller balloons which are stamped using the Lift Me Up set and then can be cut out with the thinlits.

So I made this massive card without pre-planning the colours – I cut out a number of the five shapes in night of navy, cherry cobbler, silver foil and marina mist and then glued them behind my two big balloons pretty much at random. I found that tombow onto the back of the detailed balloon die cut worked perfectly for attaching the backgrounds. I used dimensionals to make the balloons float on what is a complete sheet of card stock folded in half. We’re going to need a lot of room to write messages to Gabe. I then used the stamp set for a few of the smaller balloons and cut them out with the Up and Away thinlits dies. Since I didn’t pop them up, they could easily have been stamped straight onto the card, but it’s fun to play with new toys isn’t it?!

Talking of using full sheets – the envelope used almost a full piece of DSP. The envelope punch board makes it easy to make different envelopes – especially the table on the front which tells you the paper size that you need. In this case, it was 11 by 11 and I used the floral boutique DSP.

Don’t forget the great close out sale currently going on and also the offer from me – a new, free stamp set. Just spend $40 with me and use the workshop code CBUJ4GTP, and you get to select one of Hey, Chick, Delicate Details or Designer Tee which I’ll send you for free once I close out this workshop on January 3rd.
