June 2018 - My Elegant Cards

The set Abstract Impressions really caught my eye in the catalog – especially the samples on page 5. Naturally I preferred the clean and simple version. But it inspired me to get this set.

I had received my preorder of the new incolours and that’s about all I was crafting with for a while. Now, I have the new core colors too so expect to see those soon. Here I used lucky lipstick stamped off for the main flower and full strength for the detail. The greenery is mostly call me clover with a little tranquil tide for some depth. The sentiment is beautiful and it looks wonderful too. I love that SU creates different shaped sentiments – it makes it easy to find the sentiment that will fit on a particular card. Sometimes I don’t know what sentiment I want, I just know what shape it should be. Do you do that too?

After stamping the sentiment in more lucky lipstick, I popped the whisper white layer onto a lucky lipstick card base and I was done.

Here’s the new catalog – just click on the picture and download your own pdf copy. I prefer to have a paper copy (easier to highlight!) so if you’re not already working with a demo and would like me to send you a new catalog and you live in the US, just send me a message with your address and I’ll send you one.

What do you do first with a new catalog? I look at the new colours and then flick through it quickly. Then, when I’ve had a quick look, I settle down and go through slowly, usually with a pen and wishlist by my side. I also use a highlighter and note the product that I already have so that I can avoid multiple purchases. Once I have my wish list, it’s time to make decisions. Tough decisions! With this catalog – I added up my wishlist and it came to around $1200. So I went through again and picked out what I couldn’t live without for now. Don’t forget it’s the annual catalog and we have a year to order.
