Paper Pumpkin November 2016 Alternate

Here’s the first Paper Pumpkin November 2016 Alternate, using just two of the die cuts – so that’s my next challenge I think, make a card using the third. My sister is away on vacation and although she photographed her planned cards, she didn’t upload them. Neither does she have any supplies with her so she’s revisiting some of her old cards. Her post yesterday reminded me of the fun you can have with sponges and water so it inspired me to make a dramatic background for my die cuts.

I started with some blushing bride and sponged that over the middle of the card. Next up was marina mist and then night of navy. Once I was happy with the colours, I lightly spritzed the card and then put it under a wooden stamp set to dry flat. I trimmed the front die cut so that the slope went to the ground because I’m making a full sized card whereas the kit ones are a bit smaller. Next I glued down one of the die cuts and then popped the other up with dimensionals. After putting this onto a night of navy card base, I thought I was done. But overnight, I decided that I needed a star. This one is cut from silver foil using the Starlight Thinlits dies.

Be Jolly By Golly

Well we’re definitely being jolly here today. Our father flew in from England last night and I have a 4 day long weekend. Very jolly. Sadly my brother will have to work on the weekend, but at least he gets a few days off. Here’s another of my cards using the Warmth and Cheer DSP stack – I can’t imagine how I missed this in the catalogue originally, it’s great for quick and easy cards.

Here I cut a piece of the paper and mounted it on cherry cobbler and then put that onto a crumb cake card base. I cut the 6″ by 6″ piece of DSP down to 3 3/4″ by 5″ so that it would leave enough to decorate the envelope flap! Then I used a scrap of crumb cake for my heat embossing – I stamped in versamark and then cherry cobbler to ensure that I got a really full emboss – if there’s any issues with the melting powder, the ink will hide that. You can do this with clear embossing powder but I couldn’t find mine and used the retired cherry cobbler. It gives the same effect though. (Mental note – buy more clear embossing powder so that my first pot will turn up!).  I then cut this out with the awesome stitched shapes framelits dies and popped it up with dimensionals. Easy and really effective.

If you’re celebrating THanksgiving today, I hope you have a great day. If you don’t, it’s a good time to think about the things for which you’re thankful. I find it’s a large list.

Holly Jolly Layers

Here’s another card showcasing the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF; this is a new type of folder that gets a far more 3D effect which you can enhance by lightly spritzing the cardstock with water first. This is also my first use of the Holly Jolly Layers stamp set which is a fun set with four images that are already layered – but that doesn’t stop additional layers being added!

I used crumb cake for my dry embossed layer and then because the stamped image wasn’t getting the depth of colour that I wanted, I heat embossed it. Actually this is cherry cobbler embossing powder but that was merely because I couldn’t find my clear embossing powder. I really like to first ink up the stamp in versamark and then the coloured ink and use clear embossing powder. You get a nice filled in emboss because of the colour. I used the largest of the square stitched shapes framelits dies to cut this out and added a strip of the Warmth & Cheer DSP stack because I had a piece handy after cutting out a mouse’s sweater for an earlier card. I also dry embossed the envelope flap (I didn’t spritz that, figuring the paper is thinner and I didn’t want to get the glue wet!) – love the effect.

Paper Pumpkin November 2016

My Paper Pumpkin was delivered on Saturday and, unusually for me, I’ve made up a card to the instructions. Well almost – I left off the twine, it seemed to be overkill. Next I’m going to play with alternatives. And I’m going to order the refill kit that is available starting today. It’s easy to put together, just pop out the die cuts and layer them with the included dimensionals. I attached the vellum under the sequins so that the glue wouldn’t show. Here’s the official youtube video.

And here’s my finished card. Adorable yes? If you’re a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you can purchase past kits and refills. Although only the refill is available for this month’s kit, you could easily substitute other stamp sets for the snow and sentiment.

There’s a lot more on sale for the entire week, you can look at the pdf right here. It’s probably best to download it so that you can write on it, but if you’d rather see pictures, just click on the image above and you’ll find a section in the online store marked as Online Extravaganza. Some of the items are retiring and are whilst supplies last, so don’t delay if you want them. And don’t forget about the Stitched Shapes thinlits dies which were so popular when they were launched that they are on backorder. But if you want them, order today because although more are expected to arrive on November 28th, they will not be orderable after today until next week. And whilst you’re ordering that, don’t forget that the are a dozen stamp sets that will coordinate with the stitched shapes that are on sale this month at 25% off. It truly is an online extravaganza.
