Cozy Critters and Candy Cane Lane

Happy Hallowe’en! I hope you have a fun day but I’m sharing a Christmas card today! There’s an enormous beautiful present in the Cozy Critters set and it was crying out to be heat embossed. Some of the detail is a little repressed with the heat embossing but it’s still gorgeous.

So I stamped the image from Cozy Critters – a stampin’ rewards set that you can only get for free! – in versamark on a piece of real red and then used the copper embossing powder to really make this luxurious. I just used a scrap of card stock and then cut it down to where it felt right and added a border of the copper foil. But this left me with a fairly plain card with “something missing”. So I started looking through my catalogue at the DSP to find a paper with real red – and Candy Cane Lane jumped out. I cut a strip and put it behind my main image and that’s just what the card needed.

I hope you enjoyed today’s project. Paper Pumpkin October 2016 Alternate 4

I hope that your weekend is going well. Here’s my Paper Pumpkin October 2016 Alternate 4. This time I wanted to at least make the shaker card that is in the kit, but I couldn’t resist making a couple of tweaks. I felt that the card needed more of the old olive than just the twine and a hint in the sequins, so I added some old olive cardstock.

I followed the instructions in the kit apart from the added piece of old olive and once I’d added my sequins and put the shaker card piece on top, I added the thanks from the Greetings thinlits set which I’ve just realised is actually retired. However, if you don’t have this one, we have so many other words that would work – grateful from the Seasonal Frame thinlits dies which is currently at 50% off on the clearance rack would be perfect.

Here’s another shot with the card leaned over a little so that more of the sequins are obvious:

This really is a fun set – I hope that you got it because only the refill is available now.

Paper Pumpkin October 2016 Alternate 3

I wanted to create another Paper Pumpkin October 2016 Alternate today and after a long overdue pedicure, I started playing.

I used the crackle background stamp to create a tone on tone background for my card – it’s so saffron ink. I then went looking for a contrasting colour, preferably one that I had in ribbon and discovered that the delightful dijon from the Ribbon 3/8″ Trio pack was perfect. So that set my colour scheme! I stamped the greeting from the paper pumpkin set in delightful dijon on very vanilla and cut it out using the layering oval framelits. I also cut out a mat using the same framelits in delightful dijon. The construction of the card was then pretty simple – dimensionals under the sentiment and the piece of ribbon and tombow everywhere else.

Stitched Dies are coming

Here’s a dilemma although it’s easily solved! There is a new set of dies coming out on November 1st and during November coordinating stamp sets are 25% off. However, if you wait to order until November you miss October’s special of the buy 3 DSP packs and get one free! So it’s simple, you’re going to have to order twice within a few days! Here’s the video showcasing the new upcoming dies – which I’ll be ordering on November 1st.

And here’s the list of stamp sets that are 25% off during November (I notice that the Merry Mice are this list, I think I’ll give in and get that one):

But, as I said, the current offer is that if you buy three packs of designer series paper (DSP), you get to choose one for free. And that’s a really awesome sale since it’s like getting 25% off each pack. My only issue is finding just the 4 that I want!

Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Today the star of the card (which feels small after the last two days of huge cards) is the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. And it’s a really fun and relaxing card to make.

Liz Bailey Stampin' Up! Demonstrator - Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Embellished Ornaments - Mini Pinecones

I started by running a piece of whisper white through the big shot in the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, or Pine Bough TIEF for short. Then I took a dauber and after sponging a little onto scrap paper, carefully coloured all the raised pine leaves in always artichoke. I tried using a sponge also but because there’s more give in it, it wasn’t as accurate. Truth to tell, there’s an error on this card too, but it’s hidden under the bow! The cherry cobbler greeting comes from one of last year’s sets that carried over – Embellished Ornaments.

For decoration, I used three strands of the cherry cobbler baker’s twine (from the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack) and tied a bow. I then used another piece to attach the fun mini pinecones and attached the whole embellishment with a couple of mini glue dots. I attached this all to an always artichoke card base, a colour that I’m growing rather fond of now that we no longer have mossy meadow. If we still had it, I’d never have appreciated the always artichoke.
