Paper Pumpkin May 2016 Alternate

Well, here’s my first Paper Pumpkin May 2016 Alternate – I’ve been a bit slow with this because I was so busy playing with my preorder (it was a bigger box than Paper Pumpkin!). The Many Manly Occasions kit is really great, but I don’t want eight cards so similar – do you? I decided to save a piece of the corrugated orange card and replace it with something else. It turns out that it’s best with a plain colour behind it and I hit on the happy idea of combining Paper Pumpkin with my preorder. Hence, I chose a piece of dapper denim.

Isn’t it a beautiful blue? I then used emerald envy (definitely going to be a favourite colour) to cut out my happy sentiment from Hello You – a thinlit that is happily continuing into the coming annual catalogue. I stamped the sentiment from the Many Manly Occasions (say that fast 3 times!) in dapper denim after figuring out positioning so that I had enough room for my emerald envy sentiment. I attached the happy with the 2 way glue pen which I’m sad is on the retiring list. It works so well for skinny sentiments.

As you can see, I cut out a second happy sentiment to decorate the envelope. I’m not so sure how this would do through the mail, I may have to do a test and let you know. This one though, I’ll add to my stack of birthday cards in the office.

So that’s it for the first Paper Pumpkin May 2016 Alternate – I think I’ll go and come up with a card using the now leftover orange corrugated card.

Just a reminder that retiring stamp sets are continuing to be produced through tomorrow. After that, it’s as supplies last, so if there’s anything you want, you need to move quickly.  Additionally, it’s only just over a week before the new catalogue goes live – at that time, I’ll be ordering ribbon and paper for my paper share announced here. Send me an email at lizbaileycards@gmail.com if you want to get in on the first order.

See you tomorrow,

Botanical Gardens DSP

I’m definitely guilty of hoarding DSP; I think this is only the second time that I’ve used this pattern from the Botanical Gardens DSP and it retires in only 11 days. I think I’ll be making some multiples soon.

Stampin' Up! Botanical Gardens DSP and Greetings Thinlits

When I made this card at the weekend, the Greetings thinlits were still available but having just checked the retiring list, they are gone – sorry about that. Hopefully you have something else that could work. The Botanical Gardens DSP is still available though.

I wanted to have a wide border around the DSP to really have your eye drawn to the gorgeous paper and then I added a very skinny black border (just 1/8 inch bigger in both dimensions) to make the DSP really pop. The base is in old olive.  I cut out the cheers with the Greeting thinlits and cajun craze card stock and used my 2 way glue pen (retiring but still available – I grabbed an extra one because it’s so great for adhering skinny words) to add that to an appropriate gap between the beautiful birds of paradise flowers.

I decided to continue to feature the cajun craze colour in the DSP and lined the envelope with one of my last remaining pieces of the cajun craze backgrounds DSP. I think I mentioned that I hoard DSP? The backgrounds stack retired LAST year!

Drop me an email if you need a catalogue or want to take part in my product share. Details here.

See you tomorrow,

Watercolor Wings for CAS C&S

It’s Thursday which means it’s time for another new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. This week it’s Caro’s second colour challenge of the month and it’s the remaining retiring in colours plus silver.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings and Happy Home

Here’s the banner which inspired my card

This small butterfly from Watercolor Wings is usually made using 4 stamps but today I only used three of them. The fourth one just didn’t work with these colours without having one of the colours overpower the others. I started by stamping the stamp that is almost the complete butterfly in lost lagoon and then added the detailed butterfly in blackberry bliss after stamping off once. I added the body, stamped in full strength blackberry bliss and finished it off with the stamp that just does the inside detail near the body in metallic silver. Here’s another look at the butterfly:

Next I turned to Happy Home for the sentiment. Watercolor Wings has great sentiments but “missing you” seems very appropriate – I definitely will miss these colours!

I then put this piece of whisper white onto a mat of blackberry bliss and added that to a lost lagoon cardbase. I lined the envelope with a lost lagoon envelope liner, another product that you know I’ll be missing!

I hope that you’ll pop over to CAS Colours & Sketches to see the rest of the cards from the Design Team and to play with these colours; I’d love to see your card in the gallery.

I’ve announced my product share for the 2016 catalogue – details are here.

See you tomorrow,

Swirly Scribbles Thinlits

Today I’m sharing a sneak peek at a few of the products available in the new catalogue – Swirly Scribbles Thinlits dies – because my long awaited preorder finally arrived on Monday. The swirly scribbles thinlits really caught my eye and I wanted to highlight them on a card.

Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles and All About Everything

First I cut out the wavy die cut in dapper denim (I love this colour already) and used the 2 way glue pen to glue it down. Then I pulled out the bonus set from April’s Paper Pumpkin, All About Everything for the sentiment and since it’s photopolymer, I was able to curve it to mimic the curve of the die. I have to say that photopolymer is hands down my favourite type of stamp. I stamped this in another of the upcoming incolors – emerald envy onto a very vanilla base. This I put onto a dapper denim card base.

The die cut is longer than is needed for a standard card, indeed it’s a tad longer than you need for the envelope. I’m looking for new ways to decorate envelopes with the retirement of the envelope liners framelits and this seemed like a good choice.

Stampin' Up! Swirly Scribbles thinlits and All About Everything

Fun and quite striking, yes? In both cases, I just used my paper snips to carefully cut off the excess using the card/envelope as a guide.

I announced my Product Share yesterday – see the details here.

See you tomorrow – a bit later than usual due to the new CAS Colours & Sketches challenge going live at 8am. You still have some time to enter into this week’s if you’re quick!

Announcing my 2016 annual catalog product share

What is a product share? As I’ve mentioned (presumably ad nauseum), there’s a new catalogue that will be live on June 1. It is filled with lots of new product, that if you ordered it all would cost you, maybe not an arm and a leg, but more than most of us have in our back pockets. Not only are there lots of new stamp sets for you to ooh and ahh over, there are 4 new specialty designer series papers, 6 designer series papers, 4 new designer series paper stacks and a new fabulous foil designer acetate. The cost for all of the papers, with shipping is $200.20. A bit pricey? Here’s where I come in.

You email me with a request for a product share and when I get four people, I send you all a paypal invoice. Once I receive payment, I order the goodies, divide them up and send you your share.

5. Paper Share plus both ribbon shares – $95

All you have to do is email me at LizBaileyCards@gmail.com and let me know which product share you’d like (obviously number 5 is the best value). Once your product share fills, I’ll email you the paypal invoice and once the share is paid for, I’ll order the product. Please note, I can’t order until June 1. Then I divide everything up, ship it to you and you’re happy. Unfortunately I can only ship within the US.
