Paper Pumpkin April 2016 alternate

As expected, my Paper Pumpkin kit arrived last night. It’s an exciting event even though I’d given in to temptation and watched the videos! So, as usual, here’s my Paper Pumpkin April 2016 alternate. The first one anyway! The kit is called Lovely Little Wreath and it contains everything needed to make a wreath. But of course there are some spare pieces. So I’ve made a happy spring card with some of the leftovers.

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin April 2016

The leaf strip is designed to wrap around the wreath – I cut a strip to fit my card (I already have ideas for the little piece leftover) and then used up three of the spare paper flowers. They are just tissue paper cut into a scalloped circle which I’ve folded into quarters. Very simple, but effective. The sentiment – one of three in the kit – is stamped in mossy meadow. The kit also contains an ink spot of very vanilla craft ink – I have wanted this for a couple of years so I’m very happy.

I’m also happy that my sister Caro is at her local Onstage event in the UK today. We’ll be chatting later so that I can catch up on all the news. I’m looking forward to that! Which reminds me – the retiring list will be published on Monday. As soon as it’s published, things will start disappearing – the first to go is everything in the retiring in colours. So if you want anything, order now! If you use my Stampin’ Rewards code over there on the left and your order is at least $50 before taxes and shipping, I’ll include the It’s My Party enamel dots with your thank you card. If you’ve ordered from me in the last 12 months (thank you!) and you didn’t check the no contact box, I’ll be sending you a new catalogue as soon as I get them in May. If you don’t currently work with a demonstrator and would like a catalogue, please email me at lizbaileycards@gmail.com with your contact details and I’ll send you one too.

See you tomorrow,

Grateful Bunch and CC&S

It’s Thursday which means another challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches – this week it’s a sketch. I’m really getting more and more fond of sketches – I encourage you to give a sketch a try. And why not start with this week’s over at CAS Colours & Sketches? 🙂

Stampin' Up! grateful bunch watercolor wishes

For some reason my mind turned the rectangles into flower stalks early on. It was as I was driving home from CVS getting a prescription filled for my brother that this idea popped into my head. I had to imagine whether it should be grateful bunch or the botanical builder set.  Nowhere near as distracting as texting, but hard to envision and when you have the idea you want to play immediately! In the end I tried both in reality and Grateful Bunch won. I’m rather hooked on the almost retiring in-colours at the moment and so the stalks are in mossy meadow. To stay true to the sketch the left hand stalk is full size and the right is smaller. I did this by masking off some of the stalk – it didn’t have to be perfect because a flower could cover any issue! I tried hello honey and blackberry bliss as the flowers, the latter full strength and stamped off once but it lacked some brightness. So I thought about yesterday’s card and how mossy meadow and watermelon wonder look so great together and I stamped the flowers in watermelon wonder on very vanilla and punched them out. I love that the punch cuts out three flowers at a time! I decided to change colours, pretending the plants are separate, and on the right did a stamped off blackberry bliss flower.

I added the mossy meadow sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes set (love this set) and then glued on the flowers, popping up the biggest watermelon wonder flower for some interest. The very vanilla piece was put onto a mossy meadow card base and there you go.

I’m now wondering if I need to get more mossy meadow card. It’s such a great colour and I’m really going to miss it. I may have to grab another pack before the retiring list comes out and the in colours items disappear…

Anyway – please go over to CAS Colours & Sketches and check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team and have a go yourself. I promise that after a few sketches you’ll come to love them too.

See you tomorrow,

Birthday Bouquet DSP

I’m continuing to look at the mound of DSP and trying to use it to make space for more DSP that I know will be on the way to me in the next couple of months!  I was playing with the hexagon punch at the weekend and, having recently used a circle as a stencil, I decided to cut a number of circles in DSP and see where I ended up. The Birthday Bouquet looked right for this and I cut a few circles out of one of the sheets and decided to use both sides on a card. With about 7 weeks to go before the 2014-2016 in colours retirement, I discovered that I love mossy meadow and watermelon wonder together.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Bouquet DSP and Party Pants

I positioned one of the circles off the card (the trimmer makes it easy to get a good right angle on the paper) and then added the other circle to the card. The sentiment comes from the Sale-a-bration set, Party Pants. It’s one of my current favourite “Happy Birthday to you” images and it’s stamped in watermelon wonder. I cropped it with a 1.5″ circle punch and popped it up with stampin’ dimensionals. The piece of whisper white was then glued to a mossy meadow card base. Then I decided to add some mossy meadow enamel dots (they were in the holiday catalogue and were mostly unused!) Don’t the colours go beautifully? You’re going to miss mossy meadow too, aren’t you?

I used the same paper to line the envelope using the envelope liners framelits to cut it out. There. That’s used up almost a third of a piece of DSP. There’s still a LOT to go! Take a look at your stash and use some up ready for the new catalogue. You know you’re going to be buying more soon!

See you tomorrow,

Liz
