No Bones About It

Whilst I was away at the crop weekend I made a couple of cards for a few current challenges. If you’re in, or close to, NJ and want to attend the next crop, here are the details of the one that I go to. This challenge is hosted at the TGIF Challenge site. I borrowed the No Bones About It set from my sister and created this card:

Stampin' Up! No Bones About It

Here’s the banner which inspired my card

Definitely an autumnal palette but the No Bones About It set was crying out to be used – especially as I’d had Caro bring it with her from the UK. In the event, I find I have longer to use it since it’s one of the four that she’s left with me and will take home with her at Christmas.

So to the card! I started by stamping the full dinosaur in Cajun craze on very vanilla before stamping his skeleton in soft suede. I couldn’t resist adding a party hat in crushed curry. The sentiment is from another of Caro’s sets, Butterfly Basics, also stamped in crushed curry. I matted the very vanilla with a skinny frame of soft suede and then mounted it on Cajun craze cardstock. I happened to have a Cajun craze liner already cut out of the backgrounds DSP with the envelope liner framelits. It’s the perfect accompaniment.

See you tomorrow,

Dropping in to say hi

I was away at the weekend at a crop – i.e. a weekend filled with crafting, classes, music and chat with like minded people. My sister and friend joined me and we had a blast. We even made a bunch of cards, this being one of them – the inspiration for which was this week’s challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches.

Stampin' Up! Acorny Thank You

The challenge banner is

The stamp set is Acorny Thank You which I’m having a lot of fun with. I stamped the striped nut in delightful Dijon on very vanilla and then cut them out with the new punch. Then I punched out a few nut hats in chocolate chip and blackberry bliss although I stamped off once with the blackberry bliss or it looked almost black. I cut the top off the nut hat from the very vanilla version because otherwise it was peeking out from under the stamped one. The top two acorns are glued to the very vanilla piece whereas the bottom one is popped up with dimensionals. I really like the sentiment and the typeface of the hi – I stamped this in chocolate chip. I matted this in delightful Dijon and then put it on a blackberry bliss card base. The very vanilla envelope is lined using the envelope framelits  and the retired backgrounds DSP – I need to get the new version of this DSP, it’s so useful, especially for lining envelopes.

See you tomorrow,

Sleigh Ride Tags

The crop has a gift tag swap and it happened yesterday so I can reveal my tag.

I fully intended to use the awesome delicate ornament thinlits to make my tag but somehow got sidetracked!

Stampin' Up! Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies

I cropped out two circles using the framelits in real red. Then I cut the santa and sleigh with the Sleigh Ride Edgelits Dies from the bottom of the circle and, because I was making eight, another from the top. I cut out two smaller circles from whisper white and ran one of them through the big shot using the Softly Falling TIEF. The white embossed circle is glued to the real red larger circle – I thought it looked best anchored at the bottom of the larger circle – and the santa and sleigh are popped up using stampin’ dimensionals.

On the other circle, I stamped sentiments from the Flurry of Wishes and Wondrous Wreath (retired) in real red.

I finished the tag off using the gold cording trim.

See you tomorrow,

Dove of peace

Here’s a very simple card today which would be very easy to make a stack of relatively quickly. I say relatively because it includes heat embossing – it’s hard to show that well in a photo.

Stampin' Up! Dove of peace and Christmas Greetings thinlits

I’m using the new (ish) thick whisper white card as my base which worked really well when I heat embossed and hasn’t warped at all. I used the embossing buddy to ensure that the gold embossing powder went where I wanted it to and then stamped the image in versamark. I then sprinkled on the powder, heated up the heating tool a little and then embossed. I finished the card off by cutting out the peace sentiment from the Christmas Greetings thinlits dies in gold foil. I used the fine tip glue pen to glue the word down – it’s much simpler than having to carefully dot the tombow liquid glue onto it. By the way, I decided to separate the dove from the sentiment – it’s easy to put them back together when I want them, but mostly I’m expecting to use it without.

See you tomorrow when I’m showing the tag I made for the Christmas tag swap later on today at the crop. I’ve finished one of them so far, I’d better finish the other seven this morning!

Gift Bag punch board

I’m still packaging the gifts for my secret pal – my sister has been awesome helping me whilst I’m at work. I come home and things have been packaged. Sweet! Today though I used the gift bag punch board (truth be told, Caro punched and scored the larger one) to construct some bags for the last two gifts.

Stampin' Up! Gift bag punch board and Paper Pumpkin Blissful Bouquet - Alternative - Watercolor Words

I made the largest bag possible out of a regular 8.5 by 11 inch piece of card stock and it wasn’t big enough for the largest present. Still, I had something to put in it. The bag was made out of a piece of mint macaron which I stamped in gold using the October 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit, Blissful Bouquet. This is definitely my most used Paper Pumpkin kit! Whilst I constructed the bag, Caro made me a bow out of the gold foil and the bow builder punch and then cut out the word jolly with the Christmas Greetings thinlits dies, also from the foil. I added the word and the bow using a glue dot. Since I didn’t use ribbon, I closed the bag with velco dots.

The other gift bag used a piece of 12 by 12 lost lagoon and made a large bag rather than a medium. I started stamping silver stars, using the stamp from Watercolor Words and then decided to add some colour. I grabbed rich razzleberry and added a few stars. Then I finished off the cardstock with silver. I constructed the box and found that happily the gift fits. For this bag I decided to use ribbon as the closure but the rich razzleberry didn’t work so I got out the blackberry bliss which was perfect.  I wanted to add a touch of bling since this is the last gift and thought that last year’s snowflake embellishments worked perfectly. I attached it using the silver cording trim. Now all I have to do is decorate my cookie recipe and bake the cookies. Oh and go to work. Easy peasy!

See you tomorrow,
